Default Should I leave UK Engineering for CSS?

Assalam-O-Alaikom!
I am a student of Electrical Engineering here in FAST, Pakistan and I am in my second year now. I recently got admission in Electronics & Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds, UK (I would be completing Engineering by the age of 25)...

But now the thing is that I need advise whether if I should go to UK and do my Engineering then come back for CSS? (Mainly I am only interested in PSP or DMG too maybe) Or shall I complete my 14 years of Education here and go for CSS.. I am 21 now and I find CSS Subjects very interesting and I think that I can handle it quite easily...

I mainly had an interest in the Army but got not-recommended twice and now I think that PSP might fulfill my dream...

So after Engineering I have another chance in the armed forces with a short service commission.. I met a serving Army Engineer and he told me that the Armed forces would easily accept me if I graduate from Leeds...

Also please advise me about all the things I hear and sometimes see too regarding bad practices in government jobs.. Can a SHAREEF banda settle in CSS nowadays???

Any suggestion would be much welcomed.. THANK YOU!!!

You should keep all options open in front of you and not sacrifice one for other. Its always recommended to complete your basic education first and then appear in competitive examination once you had a mature approach.

Where CSS has made many lives it had put down many as well. Its upto the individual how positive he consider every situation.

@kingfalcon

Most of the candidates who inspire CSS are actually inspiring the prosperity & leisure afterwards, some admire the power attached with the occupation, as in your case the PSP & DMG.

But the very reality exists that these two are amongst the most corrupt departments of our Bureaucracy (IN my humble opinion, if you can hear the stories of Thana Torture & Ex-Judicial Killing & What is going in Kachahriz, DCO offices). So if your Leeds Degree assures you prosperity & ease with dignity & honesty then go for it. If you can handle pressure and are adamant to work with honesty despite of any sought of consequences then you must do CSS.

Actually a Bureaucrat has to face a lot of pressure from Snrs as well as politicians and the chances are very dim that he might be able to refrain from corruption due to these pressure. If you are so much self-conscious and averse to it then don’t join, bcz it wil only increase tension and result in mental stress.

Thank You so much. I really appreciated your replies and I got quite an idea from your answers.
You see, to be frank, yes, I am mainly in pursuit of power and prestige and uniform(in case of PSP)..
I had 3 22 grade CSPs in my family and I am quite inspired by them... But on the other hand when I look at the situation in govt offices nowadays, I get perplexed as to if I really want to be in such a quagmire of corruption, political interferences and under-valued salaries on top of it..
And guess what, non of the above mentioned officers had sent their children into govt offices. And they don't speak very good of todays environment inside govt machinery too..
Sometimes I do try to cling on to the hope that nowadays the media is very active and maybe corruption etc would be controlled in the future and the civil service will get back its lost glory, but in the end, that's just a hope...
For now, I think that I should go for my engineering at Leeds so that I have more options at my disposal in the future.

Even if one is not contemplating taking CSS, an engineering degree from UK isnt all that useful and sought after. I have many friends who got educated from UK, and from universities as good or bad as Leeds, and had a very hard time finding jobs in Pakistan.

I shall advise you to complete education from Pakistan and then take CSS. In case you cannot sail through CSS< you can avail yourself of the option to study in UK.

Best of Luck

Regards

Nauman

I am happy that my comments serve your pupose but I am at the lowest of my ebb after going through your above response. If this is what youth start thinking then I can guarantee that Pakistan future is in the wrong hands. If our youth start thinking of only power and authority and have so much craving for authority without fulfilling the responsibility of authorities and have a serving mind then its too bad to hear. It made me disappointed good enough.

Education if does not give you positive attitude is considered luck but education with a positive attitude is called success.

Yes, brother.. I too am very concerned about my country's future. Things are surely going the wrong way. I am just having a survival in the jungle mindset..
The reality of our govt machinery is that a Shareef or honest person cannot easily survive in it, serving the country is a far thing...

if u really wanted to serve the country then at 1st complete your basic education, that is Engineering at FAST.think how much privileged you are upon having such an excellent opportunity. Thanks to Pakistan,it has given us identity and Dignity to be recognized in the world. After Engineering if you join civil services it your own way to serve the country.if you want to be practical in your civil job then go ahead,as practical heads and are too much needed here, not only talks or gossips these are impractical.

Wish you all the Best in Engineering and later for CSS.
And remember change lives in mind!

I did my engineering from FAST and a classfellow of mine did MS from Leeds after graduating from FAST. After returning to Pakistan he was jobless for 7 months and now just got a job that is only paying him 13000 per month. So make your decisions wisely.
