dear aspirtants,
reading dawn newspapar keeps u upto date thorough current affairs. if anyone says reading some thing like he or she does may not work sometime. wise thing to do is to read and make ur reading more interesting. if u read any opinion of any person try to analyse it and think if u were he how would u feel from ur angle. it makes ur reading productive and useful for to ur goodbeing.

the more u read better it is
anyways if u have got less time then u can rely on skimming and scanning the newspaper and in this way reading at least those clippings which are important from examination point of view

hi,

1. It is a better idea to study as varying material as you can. Geo is good but not sufficient. Watch DawnNews, CNN, BBC, and read as many newspapers as you can.

2. Making notes is your choice. But I have always found it a good thing to do coz in the last few days they will help u cover ur syllabus in a jiffy.

3. Yes, u can go against the Govt outright. but, u must have very persuasive, valid and good alternative to the stand of the Govt. But u can always temper ur tone while talking or writing against the Govt.

4. Try reading relevant sections of this forum. Go visit some important websites like nytimes, bbc, RAND corporation, zmagazine, slatest, etc. Read some magazines, journals, newspapers. Discuss with ur friends.

And let me add something that Dawn has 4 or 5 editorials daily.
well the first one that is at the top left corner is the Editorial, the remaining under it may be 2, 3 are "Editorial notes"...

Can anyone provide a format or an approach on how to take notes from newspapers?

What should be noted? Paragraphs, dates, topics....etc

@Shaho,

Compile clippings from newspapers on different issues which make the top stories e.g. US-Pak and Afghanistan Issue; role of both the countries, policies and performance etc. You have to deeply study that topic and look into the minute details because many other issues are linked to it, like, dialogue with Taliban, terrorism in Pakistan, its impact on our country, NATO route via Pakistan, Indian consulates in Afghanistan and their alleged involvement in Balochistan, then it comes Balochistan issue and son. You should prepare notes in bullet form on each issue and topic. Because it will be easy to revise at the eleventh hour.
