Default If winter comes, can spring be far behind??

“The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?”

The above lines uttered by P.B Shelly leads us to a situation of the poet when he was left with no words and phrases to express what he had inside him. If taken in literary sense, winter denotes destruction, despair and dark aspect of life. And its counterpart, the spring is the nick name of happiness, hilarity, blithe, hope and light in one's life.
In the days of distress and in the moment of despair, when one totally gets deprived of any kind of hope, even in such circumstances, one should have the expectation of flowers of happiness waiting for oneself to be bloomed in one's life. As it is said that, before the time and more than the luck, nobody can gain, but the key to gain it all is patience and endurance as
“Every cloud has the silver lining”, uttered John Milton.
If we take a bird’s eye view on history we will come to know that all nations had a cycle of spring and winter in their lives and spring always comes after the winter. Why to go far, just take the example of Pakistan. Muslim community of subcontinent was at sea by virtue of Hindu conspiracies and British rule. There was no light of hope. Then overcame the spring, the winter, in shape of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Consequenlty all the dark curtains, slid away and Muslims enjoyed independent state.
Same was the case with the France that saw a lot many reforms in favor of majority as a result of French Revolution. Bourgeoisie class had an axe to grind that crushed the proletariat class for several centuries. But winter never lasts forever. Its followed by the spring sooner or later.

Default Every cloud has a sliver lining”.

I'm not very good at expression. Kindly guide me.
Every cloud has a sliver lining”.
Above line refers to the term coined by John Milton.
In a darker night the sky wrapped in clouds seems to have the moon enveloped in the blanket of vapors that are seen like silver lining around the clouds. It tells that even darker night may get brighter with the appearance of moon.
It indicates the presence of a bright and vital aspect wrapped in that of darker one. All bad situations and worrisome circumstances are followed by the hilarious moments. When all the buds of hope wither even before their full bloom and disparity clings to one’s heart like an octopus, even then, one must keep in mind that winter always comes as a messenger of spring.
To get hope from even worse circumstances and to achieve virtue out of evil company seems to be the real mettle.
“Hope is faith holding out its hand in dark.” Uttered George Iiles.
Tamerlane was a great muslim ruler. Once after being defeated by the opponent, he fled and sat in a cave in disparity. He had become so despair that had no hope for betterment. But even in that worse condition, he observed a little insect, learned a lesson, and gathered his courage for battle again.
So to observe a situation with optimistic thoughts makes flowers out of the thorns.

Default Say naught, struggle naught availth.

Say naught, struggle naught availth.
“Say not, Struggle nothing availth”
Lines presented by Arthur clough, convey the importance of struggle in human life. Without struggle, man cannot accomplish anything really great in this world. Struggle is the key to success in human life. It is rightly said:
“All honor to those who try.” The fruit that is gained by efforts and hard work is the sweeter and brings more mettle.

That freedom can never be attained by a nation without sufferings.” Said Quaid-e-Azam while addressing to the nation. The Muslims of Subcontinent had been so much in dark and despair, but the only thing that makes them triumphant was the struggle and unity. They worked tirelessly, took night vigils, even without proper sources. And eventually Allah blessed them what they were striving for.
If we cast a glance at the historic events in Europe, the conclusion comes to the surface that only those nations and those movements proved successful which struggled from.
“And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship.”
Hazrat Muhammad SAW said to one of his companions. Without hard work and struggle, no mounteverast can be conquered. Ant, a social insect is a torch bearer in this regard for human beings as it teaches us how to maintain the courage and how to make struggle hard to achieve some goal. Tamerlane had been a great Muslim Ruler and he learned a very keen lesson from this social insect. Thus he won the battle that he had been losing time and again.
Struggle and success are inseparable as their exictance depend upon each other.

Sadia go through the following and I hope it will help you.

How to Expand an Idea

Expansion: What it means?
Expansion is a process which is almost opposite in nature to précis-writing. In the latter case a large passage is condensed into a smaller one, whereas in the former case, a proverb or a maxim or a quotation or any idea given, is expanded or amplified. This undoubtedly, is a more difficult process. Expansion means an enlargement into one paragraph or more of the idea contained in a line or two. What we really expand is the idea given. We do not simply state the idea in different words, we enlarge and elaborate the idea, give illustrations to prove it, explain its application and generally make it concrete and vivid by adding accessory and relevant details.

What is wanted is that the idea given should be clearly developed. But expansion is by no means an essay. In an essay we have a larger scope and greater freedom, but in expanding an idea we keep strictly to what is given, and do not introduce and digressions. An expansion is at times called a ‘miniature essay’. But it cannot be a miniature essay in the strict sense of the term.

AT times ‘Amplification’ or ‘Elaboration’ or some other similar term is used to describe this process. But the process is the same, and students must not be scared by these words.

What is expanded?
For purpose of expansion generally epigrammatic sayings, maxims or proverbs containing some interesting ideas or hidden meanings are given. There is no point in asking a student to expand the idea in a passage where it has already been elaborately developed. A student may be asked to expand epigrammatic sayings of this type: The first stroke is half the battle. Expansion is a idea is to think out its bearings and applications, to arrange ones thoughts on it, to exclude all that is irrelevant to it.

How to Expand?
Note carefully the following instructions:
1. * *Read the line containing an idea very carefully and think over it for a few minutes. Try to grasp the idea with all its implications. If it is not clear at first devote some more time to it. You should not start writing before you have fully grasped the idea.
2. * *having grasped the idea and its implications, try to think out its bearings, and all the illustrations, parallels, and accessory details, everything calculated to make it clear and concrete. Jet down the ‘points’ as they come to your mind.
3. * *Arrange these ‘points’ in the right order. The paragraph or paragraphs which will contain these points must have unity and coherence, like all good paragraphs. That is why nothing far-fetched or irrelevant, should be introduced. The freedom which one enjoys in writing an essay is not allowed in expansion.
4. * *As we establish or prove the idea given we should clearly indicate the steps leading up to it.
5. * *One illustrations and, if possible, one quotation, should be normally given. Too many illustrations or quotations spoil one’s expansion.
6. * *The length of an expansion should be strictly according to the given directions. It is normally from 250 to 300 words.

What must be avoided?
The following things should be borne in mind.
1. * *Never start writing before understanding the idea fully.
2. * *Never introduce “I” in your expansion. Always write in the third person, or in the first person plural i.e. ‘we’.*
3. * *Avoid quotations, illustrations or references about which you are not sure.
4. * *Try to cut out all irrelevant matters, frills or figures of speech. Don’t write Urdu verses.
5. * *The language should be as simple as possible.*
6. * *Care should be taken to revise what is written and, if necessary, a fair copy should be made.
Below we are giving a ‘Specimen of Expansion.’

Knowledge of Power
Note: The idea is simple enough.*
A man of knowledge possesses great influence.*

He is a very powerful man in society. A man of knowledge knows his fellowmen, understands them, and can easily lead them. He also knows himself and can direct his faculties well. He is naturally a man of resource who may after strike out a plan of safety in times of danger. He lays all science, art and nature under tribute. He enslaves the mighty elements of nature.*

But how are we to arrange our ideas?
We should first of all give the reasons which go to prove that knowledge is power. Then we should give some illustrations and quotations. It may not be a bad arrangement if these illustrations and quotations are given along with the reasons explained.

Expansion
People may think that it is might that rules. Indeed, even now there are many worshippers of brute power. But a little thinking will show that it is knowledge that rules the world. A man of knowledge possesses immense influence. He has the knowledge of the men and matters around him which mystify or baffle the ignorant. If he is a scientist, he studies the phenomena of nature and chains the mighty forces of nature and enlists them to human service. Thus today the forces of nature give us light, energy, comfort and power. A man of knowledge understands his fellow men and judges them rightly. That is why it becomes easy for him to lead them. He inspires confidence which an ignorant man, however, powerful he otherwise may be, is incapable of doing. In times of danger the man of knowledge proves himself to be a man of resource. Lastly, such a man knows himself and understands himself. There is no knowledge greater than the knowledge of self. Knowing oneself means mastering one’s passions and controlling one’s faculties. These give one immense power.

So the men of knowledge have always achieved wonders. Ulysses, the Greek hero, contributed more to the capture of troy by his wisdom than Ajax did by his strength, or Achilles did by his courage. It was Archimedes the savant, (a very knowledgeable person) who saved Syracuse from Marcellus and his soldiers when the combined efforts of the army and fleet of King Hiero of Syracuse could do very little. Roger Bacon, the medieval scientist, was thought to have supernatural powers, because of his immense knowledge. The Bible says ‘Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.’ Hence, it can safely be said that ‘Knowledge is Power’.

Post Check my short essay

Seniors please check my short essay which I written for IELTS preparation.

SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT SENSE OF COMPETITION SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED. OTHERS BELIEVE THAT CHILDREN WHO ARE TAUGHT TO CO-OPERATE RATHER THAN COMPETE BECOME MORE USEFUL ADULTS.

Although this may be true that co-operation helps to nurture good adults whereas competition in increasing the thirst of learning among children to obtain good marks.
There are both advantages and disadvantages of Competition. Children work hard to compete with other children thus they give all their leisure time to studies. Thereby, their social activities and leisure activities like playing games etc will be affected. Hence, the children who taught to compete rather than co-operate may not be useful adults.
In contrast, co-operation is about spreading love, sense of care and concern for friends and classmates. The children who taught to co-operate can make some true friends. Friends can share their knowledge and help each other. If one child could not understand what teacher taught in class then others can help him out. Children are quick to grasp things in early childhood. Whatever you teach them, they catch it quickly. So they may be useful adults in society, if we teach them to co-operate with others. Because children cannot forgot what they learned in their childhood.
In conclusion, co-operation among children may be fruitful. Competition makes children selfish, egoist and in last, they become enemy to each other. On the other hand, the sense of co-operation enhances the ability of children to make friends and good classmates too. They can learn more in friendly environment.
It is quite common these days, the most organizations are hiring those people who good at social life, communication and those who can work with diversified workforce. So the children who are taught to be co-operative can be benefited in adulthood in getting good job.

We are all born ignorant but one must work hard to remain stupid

Since birth to demise, a man undergoes innumerable experiences and tastes a variety of sweet and sour events of life. Here Benjamin Franklin refers to the idea that when a human being descends to this world, his mind is blank like space and it is inevitable that with the passage of time he learns from his surrounding and practices. And this process is absolutely natural. However the world also accommodates the people who put great effort to remain indifferent to progress and development. What impedes their mental progress includes multiple reasons. In most cases, their inability to observe and adapt and adherence to nonsensical ideas is the key reason.
Since every living creature has been bestowed with the potential to gain knowledge and hence utilize it for his betterment so it is propitious to say that those who do not learn are destined to suffer and the reason of their fall will be the lack of willingness to adapt. Putting simply, nobody is stupid but its one’s own choice to be ignorant for the rest of your life. The darkness of ignorance can only be abated through observation and learning. Here it is to be noted that being literate or illiterate is not the question, this implies that a man does learn from nature. However if he turns a blind eye and deaf ear to his environment, nothing can help him to get out this obfuscated sate of mind.
In a nut shell, the idea herein is that progress and growth is automatic, if we permit.
