Default The truth about 5000 words

Salamz all,

I would like to share with others, my experience of competitive exams in various cadres for last two years. The paper setter this time was manifestly inspired or colluded by the paper setter of ISI exams. In the test for Assistant Director ISI, the paper setter of essay asked the candidates to produce an essay comprising 3000-4000 words. I, along with other candidates, was taken in by this ruse and tried my best to comply the direction. In the end, I realised that I had come up with slightly above 1500 words. While inquired, a friend of mine told me that he did the same, as it was a herculean task to produce an essay of that magnitude especially while sticking to the topic. Quite surprisingly, we both received call letter from ISI for psychological test.

The paper of essay in CE-2007 had a strong tinge of that ISI test and almost duplicated it. I wrote about 1500 words in the CSS essay paper. So I firmly believe that the direction was merely an attempt to confuse the candidates and it had nothing to do with the actual policy. If that direction translates into policy, I don't think the number of successful candidates will reach 100 mark. The fact that I received ISI call letter is enough proof to dispel any fears about the length factor.

So, chill out dudes.

Allah Hafiz.

It is 22 . 22 not what you have mentioned in your post 222.22
therefore one can write 22 words in a minute and 4-5000 words in an essay in 180 minutes.....As a beaureaucrat Responsibility should be your first priority...beacause one wrong step or miscalculation can misguide Thousand of CSS aspirants on this forum.As a Csp the candidates and aspirants see you as a beacon light.There fore kindly be correct and accurate in your calculations in the future.....

Take Care.

i ve just read this thread and the posts and have realised that its really incredilbe ....and even its impossible for a person like me to write an essay of 5000 words in 3hours......we really need to pray for 2008 examinations....and the paper setters should reconsider their policy for essay.....we are meant to write the facts and figures with logic and express our views on the basis of evidences rather than participating ina speedy writing competition.......
regards

Default @ Correction.

@M.A.N:
1-Correction: Bravo! You corrected my calculations.Mistake on my part could have mislead many. I apologize.

2-As for U "Super M.A.N":

"a friend of mine wrote 5150 words essay(38 pages)...nd he wrote that essay in 1 hour and 55 minutes".

According to the CORRECT calculations: your "ANONYMOUS" friend wrote 44.7826 words in 1 minute. This means your BIONIC friend can write an expansion of 250 words in five minutes. AMAZING!!!
