The paper setter baffled, even the most competent candidates of CSS 2007, when they read the
word-limit ranging from 4000 to 5000 to be written within 3 hours in the first paper of Essay.
Specifically, this paper aims at judging the students’ writing skills in presenting relevant, solid and logical
developments of ideas with excellence of Standard English Language and NOT a test of their writing speed.
Generally, the competitors invest 30 minutes in brainstorming and developing a detailed outline.
This exercise enables to write 1500 to 2500 words, what so ever the writing speed may be.
But to write 45 pages is not only difficult but also impossible for mature and sensible writers.
Under his own rule, the paper setter even may be unable to complete this superman ‘’Flight’- is bound to
cut the marks as the candidates could not achieve the target. So this would be unwise, unjust and unworthy act against the contesters of Superior Services. Therefore the wrong done at the time of paper setting , can be
compensated at the time of paper checking.

Thank u sir for contributing your valued opinion with regard to length of essay. It was quite difficult to meet the set requiremnt of words. I have aapeared in CSS this year. I tried to write relevant material but i was not able to reach the limit of 4000 to 5000 words. This will go against me in the assessment. As this problem is faced by every candidate, so it is hoped that the checker will show leniency as far length of essay is concerned.

In my view, may be this was an arthographic error. Perhaps, the paper setter wanted to ask for 500 words and the type writer miswrote it 5000. 5000 seems quite unrealistic.

Second, I think, one should just go on and write a good essay with an idiomatic approach without taking care of its length. The paper checker will never set and count the words u have written.

probably the paper-setter was much interested in gettin the candidates write a thesis instead of an essay. i dont think even 100 are going to pass the essay exam if the paper is checked strictly according to 4000-5000 words limit. my essay was no more than 3200-3300 words and i could not think of another meaningful word to write in there. lets see what happens.

i think its true i wrote 28 pages and after tht i was left with no more thoughts plus no more time.i would be more than happy to know the master writer who wrote more than 4000 words in essay paper.kindly do tell whether there is anyone?

me also agree wid u:though i have attempted this paper well but wrote only
27 pages n i tried to write further but material started to seem irrelevant to me so i think that option was only 4 superman now we can only pray 4 ourselves n hope 4 the best.........

a friend of mine wrote 5150 words essay(38 pages)...nd he wrote that essay in 1 hour and 55 minutes....first 1: 05 hours he spent on outline....

i had css-2006 experance...nd i assure you the examiner reads and counts each and every sentence you have written....bro this is central superior services examination....there for ......5000 words demand written on the question paper is what the examiner demanded......thats true.....i know few of my friends who have written essay between (4000-5000) words...there fore ..... the very paper of ENGLISH ESSAY will decide the number of passing candidates in CE-2007....

c/z every year only 250-275 students qulaify written examination...on average...
