none of these old fashioned topics is going to make its way in 2015 paper. Dear english articulation is tested through this paper through argumentative and logical writing. Fortunately fpsc has now finally got sense. instead of writing essay which requires preparation in terms of statistics, facts gathering, background knowledge etc..such topics are given which require no background knowledge except a brain with logical thinking ability.
if you see last two years papers such topics like energy crisis ,democracy etc are asked in current affair and pak affair paper and topics like women rights/roles and islam etc are asked in islamiat paper. 2014 islamiat paper is example of that and essay paper has now got a right place in css exam.i am pointing you out this as i am also a victim of similar mistake..
to prepare essay dont gather knowledge rather learn essay writing technique and expect the unexpected in essay paper

dear Ali, if one cover all these topics one would be in much better position to tackle any topic. i don't agree with the people who argue that material collection has no importance. One must have sufficient knowledge to express his ideas on any topic.

very great if you cover all these topics it mean that you covered 50% of your syllabus.

Root topics must be prepared in order to get knowledge on different issues... remaining your work is to mold those knowledge into an essay ,,, either that is analytical or philosophical....

In social problems terrorism must cover an area of Operation zarb e azb... it will be helpful in C.A and P.A as well..

Its quite good effort but such topics are losing their probability to come; but yet these are also important no doubt at all. Nevertheless, one should also practice on literature and philosophical topics as well like:

Literature

Importance of literature
Conflict is essential to drama
Frailty, thy name is women
The supernatural plays an important role in people's life

Philosophy

On being modern-minded
The superior virtue of the oppressed
An outline of the rubbish

Above are merely examples, one should go in-depth to practice alike topics. As a matter of fact, CSS and especially as far as essay is concerned, topics are always uncertain but analyzing the past trend and considering their significance, one shouldn't leave such important part. Plus we should be jack of all trades so its pretty wise to get know-how of every part, as much as possible keeping in view the time factor as we've left with merely 120 days. Well I certainly agree with Mr. N to get knowledge as its like an ammunition, the more we have the better it is for us.
