Default Muslim Law & Jurisprudence

Dear Seniors and experienced people in Muslim Law,

I have some concerns regarding Muslim Law as I am planning to opt it for CSS 2010. I am not a law student.

Is it scoring subject?
I have heard that people do not get good subjects
I have a book of D. Mulla and it seems littles strange with some cases references, do you think it is enough for preparation?

Secondly, How long does it take to prepare for the subject (in my case i do not have a lot of time with me for detailed prep)

So far my optional subject looks like:

Indo Pak Hist
Journalism
(i think i ll stick to them- above subjects)

Sociology- thinking to take
Public Admin- thinking to take
I.R- thinking to take

Muslim Law- thinking to take
Computer Sc- thinking to take

here i need to make choice and i need your precious suggestions

Yes Indeed it is a scoring subject, provided one has good grip over the subject matter and comprehends the issues well.

Book by Mullah is one of best book available on the subject and is considered an authority on the subject.Just skip the cases try to get familiarized with the terminologies of the subject and the gist of classical law. Then you can reproduce it in your own words.

It all depends on one's background.Candidates who have completed their LLb can even finish this subject in 1 week others may take even a month or two.
Basically it depends on your aptitude. If you like Law subjects i am sure you'd be able to finish it quickly.

Indeed you should stick to them.

I'd suggest to go for
Sociology, Muslim Law and International Law
or
Sociology, Muslim Law and Public Administration.

Best of Luck

I am not a law student and thats why little bit hesitant with the law subjects.

Well the combination which you have selected is also a good one.For some International law is easier and more scoring than Muslim Law and for some its the opposite. But if you are a novice when it comes to law i think International Law suits you better.

There are a number of Books available on International law. I have suggested some books in the beginner's Guide. I'd suggest you have a look at

1. International Law by S.K.Tandon
2. International Law by Agarwal

Cominng to your third query, there are number of factors going in favour off International Law.
The first and foremost is that for last few years it has been more scoring than International Relations. The syllabus is shorter and the questions are repeated often . On the other hand International Relations has been a real heart breaker for some in the past 3-4 years. The paper pattern has changed and the candidates find it really difficult to apply the theory portion to the questions given. But i have seen the question paper of css 2009, it was based on the old pattern.

Hope i have cleared some concerns in your mind.

Regards
