You will surely get one mark if you have got one corrected in a pair.. however, in Punjab Public Service Commission exams, one is given two marks only and only if both words are sentenced correctly

As far as my knowledge is concerned, one mark is not awarded; One word correct from a pair of words is not eligible for a mark. So in this situation zero mark is awarded. I have learnt it from sir Ramchand.

well i dont claim to be the ,nor i am!but i would try to answer the very questions on my own..

CHRONICLE:history of events

EPITAph:tombstone

LACONIC:pithy, epigrammatic, brevity(noun),short, abr idged so on and so forth.Basically laconic has been taken from the name of city laconia of province sparta ;whose soldiers were very daring and always game for fighting so they used to have a short speech and then would start fighting ... so it refers to their speech..

CURTAILED,boil down(verb)

SHINGLE:1 refers to the beach that has stony ground, 2 refers to the boards of doctors ,lawyers and tutors hung in front of their building to aadvertise them.

FILIAL:In oxford dictionary this is a bit confusing but we can take a precise guess on refernce to relation towards son and daughters

MESOPEDIA:MESO means hatred so its the gall for kids... similarly mesogynist means hatred for woman and mesogamist m,eans hatred for marriage. (every one should have a knowledge of myths ,legends ,french, italian, greek atleast their basics to be sure on vocabulary)

MENAGE:means household...Do mind looking up the word menage a trois and its pronunciation;no immorality is intended ,just want to give the beginners a sense of philology !
(B)it should not be antonyms ;if so then let me know the antonym of brace.BRACE means to prepare oneself for certain thing, once someone is braced how could it be unbraced?anyways if its an miscellaneous question its not that hard to answer to.

ANNIHILATE:supplement and augment (both are antonyms but not the exact)

BRACE:v can take invigorate as a synonyms

BRUSQUE:curt is synonym of it and smooth is opposite to it and abrupt too.

CONCORD:accord is synonym and variance is oppposite

DIPLOMATIC:bungling,besmirch,spoil(antonym),all others could be synonyms

HYPOCRICY:uprightness is opposite ,all others are synonym

ONEROUS:fluent is the only options because all others are synonym.

this was a little effort to help the brothers and sisters ;i would very much like if anyone comments, redress, gainsay, add to and appreciate it!

Default precis 2011 pl evaluate if it is passable or not

unhappiness can have many etiologies. There are some people who ,due to some unfavourable circumstances in early life, make achievement in life ,as an end in itself without catering to the ground realities.ON the other hand, some people escape the realities of life by dampening their cognitive abilities. The latter category of people is more difficult to treat as they have to be taught the desirability of happiness.Still there are others who believe that they have lived all the possibilities that life has to offer. So these people ,like the one with a escapist attitude towards life ,think that happiness is irrelevant to them Due to this attitude of theirs, they are NOT regarded as unhappy in the normal sense of the term.PSYCHOLOGICAL UNDERPINNINGS OF UNHAPPINESS

Give proper time to each section..
pair of words -10
idioms-5
direct n indirect-5
sectence correction-5
precis-25
comprehension-20
synonym n antonym-5+5
short essay -20= Total-100..

Now see...Pair of words+idioms+synonym+antonym++Direct and indirect=30 marks...All this is cramming material except direct n indirect

Secondly,Precis +comprehension+short essay= Practice.. One thing very important, plz dnt practice the past papers in the beggining that will confuse you...First practice precis and comprehension from 8th or 10th class books...then after some time turn to past papers...

Thirdly=correction of sentences...dnt waste time on this section...

: Enough...
