My utter awe!
Assalam Alaikum,
I just stumbled upon this artics in Dawn Online, and I was utterly shocked: Ambassadors to Denmark protest Mohammed (PBUH) caricatures COPENHAGEN, Oct 20 (AFP) The ambassadors of Islamic countries to Denmark have protested against 12 newspaper caricatures of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammed (P.B.U.H.), in a letter to Denmark's prime minister, his office said on Thursday. A militant group also threatened to carry out attacks in the Scandinavian country over the affair, the media there reported. The 12 drawings by two cartoonists, which appeared in Denmark's largest circulation daily Jyllands-Posten on September 30, have drawn criticism from across the Muslim community in Denmark. In a letter to Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, diplomats from Arab countries and Pakistan, Iran, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Indonesia said they were offended by the caricatures and demanded an official apology from the newspaper, the office said. Last week, as many as 5,000 Muslims demonstrated in Copenhagen against the paper and the drawings, which depicted Mohammed in different settings. In one of the drawings, he appeared with a turban shaped like a bomb strapped to his head. The editors of Jyllands-Posten meanwhile stood by their cartoons and rejected the diplomats' demand for an apology in the name of freedom of expression.(Posted @ 21:24 PST) ______________________________ Thanks. |

Denmark has been doing this...
An year or so back, there was a film director named "Theo Van Gogh" who produced a movie named "Submission" which had explicit content and was seriously offensive to Islam & Qur'an.
Quote:
for more detail read: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3974179.stm i wonder why people relate an individual's doings to religion. The lady who gave the story for this movie was previously a muslim. The director was murdered by a muslim who is now facing death sentence. The accused also stood by his act in the court. (click on this link if you want to see the details of Mohammad Bouyeri, the alleged killer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammed_Bouyeri#His_trial) It is so sad that the muslims, especially the ruling class all over the world today are so weak that all they can do is demand an apology. For all they care is that they will have to give explanations to their people, so they demanded an apology, otherwise it wouldn't make a difference to their lives. I just pray that may ALLAH help the muslims out of these infamous times when the Leader of almost 5 billion people around the world is being humiliated openly and all these people can demand is an apology........ oh ALLAH, forgive us and strengthen us so that we can avenge such heinous acts. Assalam Alaikum,
I wanted to share some Hadith with you guys, that are related to the topic: Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Angels do not enter the house where there is a picture, or a dog, or a person who is sexually defiled. Narrated Aun bin Abu Juhaifa My father bought a slave who practiced the profession of cupping. (My father broke the slave's instruments of cupping). I asked my father why he had done so. He replied, "The Prophet forbade the acceptance of the price of a dog or blood, and also forbade the profession of tattooing, getting tattooed and receiving or giving Riba, (usury), and cursed the picture-makers." Narrated Aisha I stuffed for the Prophet a pillow decorated with pictures (of animals) which looked like a Namruqa (i.e. a small cushion). He came and stood among the people with excitement apparent on his face. I said, "O Allah's Apostle! What is wrong?" He said, "What is this pillow?" I said, "I have prepared this pillow for you, so that you may recline on it." He said, "Don't you know that angels do not enter a house wherein there are pictures; and whoever makes a picture will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked to give life to (what he has created)?" _______________________________ Thanks |

Assalam Alaikum,
Here is some other points regarding the role of women in Islam, that should argue the case against west demonizing Islam in its treatment to women. According to the Qur'an, men and women are equal before God; women are not blamed for violating the "forbidden tree," nor is their suffering in pregnancy and childbirth a punishment for that act. Islam sees a woman, whether single or married, as an individual in her own right, with the right to own and dispose of her property and earnings. A marital gift is given by the groom to the bride for her own personal use, and she may keep her own family name rather than adopting her husband's. Roles of men and women are complementary and collaborative. Rights and responsibilities of both sexes are equitable and balanced in their totality. Both men and women are expected to dress in a way that is simple, modest and dignified; specific traditions of female dress found in some Muslim countries are often the expression of local customs rather than religious principle. Likewise, treatment of women in some areas of the Muslim world sometimes reflects cultural practices which may be inconsistent, if not contrary, to authentic Islamic teachings. The messenger of God said: "The most perfect in faith amongst believers is he who is best in manner and kindest to his wife." ____________________ I am actually working on a paper relating to this topic for one my courses in school, and will share it with you guys once it is completed. Thanks. |

Attack on a prophet is not freedom of expression but reflects unstable state of mind.
