Smile Role of Religion in Pakistan

I am starting this thread to have your views on the role of religion in Pakistani politics. Has it been productive? Has it transformed the society into a unity? Whether it has been positive or negative? Is there a role of religion in Pak politics?

and most importantly, what is the way forward? Should we separate state and religion or both be unified?

religion ko politics main lane ka faida yeh hai ke amdaad muslim countries se mil jati hai.
religion ke begair wali parties ko america se mil jati hai.

Bas amdaad khane ka hi faqaq hai religion aur politics ka.

yes we should seprate.
Jab krni hi corruption hai to religion ko kuon banda badnaam kre siasat main.

Dear,You have started a very good topic indeed.

Religion itself was and is never harmful like any other thing. It is the use of a thing which makes it good or bad.

you can save a person's life with an idea and you can ruin it with the same idea.

This topic is specially on the role of religion in Pakistani politics so i would like to stick to that.

the role of religion in Pakistani politics

the role of religion as well as ethnicity in Pakistani politics is very deep rooted. It was used by Pakistan National Alliance in the past to spoil Bhutto's popularity and image among Pakistanis. But it was widely misused to gain political favors in Zia's regime.Zia himself along with his pet parties like IJI used it badly just to get votes.Zia's referendum question is a bright example of misuse of religion in politics.
If someone asks you to give him vote if you consider Islam a true religion.I don't think any muslim or even non-muslim can deny this fact. But one thing is clear, the more a society is illiterate, the more they tend to impress and invoked by religious speeches.

Has it been productive?

If you ask about Pakistani politics,it never proved a productive entity. It only formed Jihadi-cum-terrorists(at least in 1980').

Has it transformed the society into a unity?

duh!!it helped dividing the gap b/w shia sunni, deobandi barelvi and God knows what.
Now people kill each other in the name of religion.

Religion can be used as a great force to motivate a nation,to make them progress. But unfortunately,we had only those people who used it for their personal gains and profits.
If someone tried to use it in national interest, the result would have been much better.

i wonder if you have`nt knowledge about Qur'an but you have acquaintance with our Holy Prophet( P.B.U.H)and reference is;

"O you who believe obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from amongst you." (TMQ al-Nisa'a, verse 59)

Allah does not order obedience to those who do not exist. This indicates that the existence of the ruler is obligatory. When Allah orders obedience to those in authority it is an order to establish them. The implementation of the Shari'ah depends upon the existence of the ruler, thus, the establishment of the ruler becomes obligatory as its absence will result in the sin of neglecting the Shari'ah.
Politics or "taking care of the affairs of the people" is an Islamic obligation upon all Muslims. Allah (God's name in the Qur'an) has ordered the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to rule between Muslims by that which Allah revealed to him, and the order of Allah to him was in a decisive manner. Allah says:

"And rule between them by that which Allah revealed to you, and do not follow their vain desires away from the truth which came to you." (Translation of the Meaning of the Qur'an, Chapter: al-Ma'idah, verse 48

IT`S a Marxist ideology and he was a atheist and this divide is due to the spacing away from religion.when religion was mingled with politics we people have seen Muslim Renaissance and why Akbar issued new religion coz he wanted to become all in all

dear,we are not talking about akbar and other golden eras.

this is specifically about Pakistani politics.

many of our ulema specially in rural areas where masses are illiterate exploit them for their own gains.I have heard one such mulvi sahib and the was he was provoking people against another sect was like he was provoking Pakistanis against Indians.

dear please Quran ko misinterpret na kreen. First verse main those in authority ka matlab shayeed khandan hai. I mean to say family main Father or other authority ka kaha mano; etc. I think. Democracy kahan se ae jai iss main?
Secondly Islamic history main Sahaba ka daur raha hai, kaheen bi elections ka batao?
Kaheen bi batao ke aik unparh drug dealer ka VOTE bi aik scholar ke barabar raha ho (as it is in politics). Never ever politics was in islam. Never practiced in islamic history. Hamarai yeh jo aaj kal molvi bi siasat main aye uwai hain, wo to sirf apna pait paalnai ke liye aye hain. Corruption ke liye aye hain like fazal ur rehman etc.

I think discussion should be open to Islam. Just in pakistani perspective will narrow its scope. I request to remain it broad.

Regards,
dear Iqbal ne theek kaha ho ja.

But Islam ki baat huwi hai To Quran, hadith ya islamic history se reference dain.

Islam main selection hai, election nahin. So i sugest politics in un islamic.

My other argument is in politics there is always opposition. If we have islamic Alam as ruler of this country by politics? Phir wo alam to na huwa, becoz us ki opposition hai.
Islam ki koi opposition nahin hoti g.

SO plz try to understand, west gave us idea of democracy, which is unislamic
