MS Naqvi (Optional)

Sociology

Qurratulain (optional)
Economics

Now please suggest me the most relevant books not more than two (if possible one)

S. No Subject Suggested Books

o2 Forestry
o3 Sociology
o4 Mercantile Law
o5 International Relations
c1 Essay
c2 English Precis & Composition

From my side,

I have Masters in Economics and Masters in Development Studies, moreover I can cover Mercantile Law because of my study at ICMA.

I have very limited time, because of my professional work.

So please suggest books in tabular form and post at CSS forum or at

Looking forward for your favourable response.

Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks,

I send you the details in tabular form at ur email. Just missing two subjects. Please suggest and if possible post in that tabular format somewhere at forum so other can use. I am sorry to bother you, as some of these books you and other members recommened at relevant threads from time to time, but I think its good if some senior forum member like you should agree on one or two specific books and suggest seperately, it will reduce the redundancy and will help all new commers to consult directly.

I got syllabus from FPSC website but they recommened alot of books, but people like me who has lesser time for preparation should concentrate on your recommendations.

Cheers

Well we can't use all those books told by FPSC. Tell u, i don't have many of them. I did not checked the syllabus properly but have got roper guidelines regarding books from seasoned people. It is not an easy task to compile all those books' stuff at a time.

Try to widen ur knowlwedge and be specific as well. I will check email as well. It is a good idea to highlight relevant books and those which are most recommended on a single specified thread. I am gonna work on it if others agree to do so.

All the best
Regards,

Well my e-mail address is written in my profile. Even its Okey to ask it here. So here goes my suggestions.
  • Sociology

Sociology by Horton & Hunt
Principles of Sociology by Zahid Saeed and Ahmed Farooq

and if you can take it as reference book for reading, just consult the following book and write some main points out of it. I mean read it in library for a day or two. It will help you alot.

Sociology of CW Mills
  • International Relations

International Relations by V.D Mahajan is really a good book and will help you alot in current affairs as well.

Do read the following journals;

The Economist
Dawn monthly Review
The Muslim World

The book of Prakash Chandra is really tough to understand so you can take any guide book that is easy as compared to Prakash Chandra. From last few years IR is CA oriented so have basics about roots of subject and make theories clear caz it will help you in proper referencing and rest is all about CA.
  • Essay

EWE
Unpopular Essays by Burtrend Russell
Go through the Book of BA "Modern Essays"
Dawn Reading

It take time to read dawn completely... but make it habit to read following pages and make a register in which you will write best and comprehensive sentences for all the current affairs and if your english is best then very good if not then memorize them for referencing. It will help you to score very good marks.
Opinion,
Editorial,
International page,
World in Focus,
Encounter,
&
Economic Review.

Will provide you information of other books too, but next time Inshahallah.

@Amjad

Thoug m' late to relply to you, but not too, so here goes my part of answer.

For Economics paper I Modern Economic Theory by K.K Dewwet and Economics by Samuelson are best books. And for Paper II Economics of Pakistan by M.Saeed Nasir & Syed Kamal Hyder is quite good. Further keep an argus eye on national and international Economic issues, via T.V ands newspapers. If you've read of The Economist, that's quite good for the paper.

Along with all these i'll recommend you to have a look at past papers of Economics and do discuss them aboard, coz there may me more than one dimensions of one question.
