You cannot apply for Fulbright 2015 (which will be announced in Feb 2014) since you'll need your degree, at maximum, by the end of this year. You can apply for Fulbright 2016 (to be announced in Feb 2015) and it would be nice if you pursue some relevant internships, volunteer work and get some publication to your credit. Plus, start working on your Personal Statement and start preparing for GRE. Avail yourself of the time you have.

Books for GRE preparation :
i) Barrons Book for Revised GRE ( ask for the REVISED GRE book, not old)
ii) GRE for Dummies

There are numerous academies which offer coaching. Don't know which one is best.

A general advice for those who are interested in appearing for GRE:

I seriously doubt if academies here are any good for GRE. At least there is none, I know of, in Rawalpindi/ Islamabad. USEFP guys do offer GRE coaching classes but honestly speaking, they are not worth Rs 18000. I attended and I felt as if my money had gone down the drain.

Let me tell you a good alternative. There are lot of online tutorials available (e.g Barrons, Princeton, Magoosh etc). Instead of paying Rs 20,000 to these academies for nothing, wisdom and (my) experience dictate that one should purchase these online tutorials. They usually have validity period upto 6 months. The best thing is the the full-length practice tests they offer so that you could undergo the experience similar to actual GRE prior to the actual exam.

The best resources, I believe, are: Magoosh, and Manhattan GRE. Couple these resources with few good online newspapers, magazines etc (I would suggest Economist) and you are good to go. Remember, practice is the key to GRE.

Please note that GRE is only a part of the Fulbright application process and does not guarantee the grant. There are other important parts as well which include your work experience (esp any community service you have rendered), research papers or any other publications, Personal Statement and Reference Letters. Personal Statement is perhaps the most significant part of your application. So please, put your best in writing it. Ultimately, you'll be competing with those who most probably would have spent at least 6 months in writing their PSs.

15th edition cannot serve the purpose. You should buy the latest edition, probably the 19th edition.(i am not sure)
Ask for Revised GRE book as the pattern of GRE has been revised in 2011.

You can also study the books/tutorials suggested by Fatima47. i-e Magoosh, and Manhattan GRE.

Manhattan GRE, 3rd edition is good. They also offer this 5lb book for practice (only) and thats a good resource. As far as Magoosh is concerned, they are famous for their tutorials and the few books they have compiled are good for revision, though they are not for exhaustive reading.

Please have a look at good personal statements available on internet (esp the ones written for top schools like Harvard, UC Berkeley, Columbia etc). You'll get a good idea as to how it should be.

Your personal statement must answer these questions:

1. Why do you intend to pursue a certain degree and how is your past education and work experience relevant in this regard.

2. Why should the Fulbright be awarded to you (out of so many other brilliant applicants)

3. How will you promote cross-culture?

4. What do you intend to do after you return?

Please do not sound pompous in your PS. Be genuine and your PS shouldnt be glutted with rhetoric.
