ان سہمے ہوئے شہروں کی فضا کچھ کہتی ہے
کبھی تم بھی سنو یہ دھرتی کیا کچھ کہتی ہے

یہ ٹھٹھری ہوئی لمبی راتیں کچھ کہتی ہیں
یہ خامشی ء آواز نما کچھ کہتی ہے

سب اپنے گھر وں میں لمبی تان کے سوئے ہیں
اور دور کہیں کوئل کی صدا کچھ کہتی ہے

جب صبح کو چڑیاں باری باری بولتی ہیں
کوئی نامانوس اداس نوا کچھ کہتی ہے

جب رات کو تارے باری باری جاگتے ہیں
کئی ڈوبے ہوئے تاروں کی ندا کچھ کہتی ہے

کبھی بھور بھئے کبھی شام پڑے کبھی رات گئے
ہر آن بدلتی رت کی ہوا کچھ کہتی ہے

مہان ہیں ہم مہمان سرائے یہ نگری
مہمانوں کو مہمان سرا کچھ کہتی ہے

بیدار رہو بیدار رہو بیدار رہو
اے ہم سفرو آوازِ درا کچھ کہتی ہے

ناصر آشوبِ زمانہ سے غافل نہ رہو
کچھ ہوتا ہے جب خلقِ خدا کچھ کہتی ہے
