This is to bring in the notice of your worthy readers that the influential officials in NAB are playing with the future of more than 400 meritorious candidates.In November 2011 NAB advertised for about 360 posts of investigators in different categories.In response NAB received thousands of application. These applicants were scrutinized at different stages through written test and psychological assessment tests conducted by National Testing Service. More than 400 people qualified for interview which was conducted by NAB in November 2012. Meanwhile some employees of NAB got a restraining order from Islamabad High Court through a writ petition which was dismissed on 30-01-2013. Even after that NAB failed to issue offer letters to successful candidates. A powerful lobby in NAB who wants to adjust its own people is not letting the process to conclude in time. They are creating hurdles in the way of these 400 meritorious candidates.They did the same thing in 2008. It is pertinent to point that premier anti corruption body is working at 30 per cent of its sanctioned strength which is affecting its performance in safeguarding national wealth from clutches of the corrupt.

It started in November 2011 and has yet to be completed after a lapse of 14 months. The process, on part of NAB, is completed in November last year. A high level of transparency was maintained throughout the process, but there was a restraining order issued by the IHC on final appointments.

The stay lifted last week and NAB was about to issue the appointment letters that there comes news of another stay granted by Balochistan High Court. Now it seems that this recruitment process will lead either to the cancellation of the whole process or the chance of meritorious candidates will be faded as delaying tactics being used by some influential people who want the whole recruitment to be halted, to adjust their near and dear ones in NAB.

I appeal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the situation and direct NAB authorities to issue appointment letters to the meritoriously selected candidates, so that justice is done at the end as it is already delayed.
