Dear All!
Here are some books n reading materail/pattern which may help you pass the written exam without extraordinary effort:

1-Golden MCQs English Literature (some publisher in Hyderabad)
2- GRE Subject English Literature (ETS)
3-Carvan's English MCQs
4-SAT Verbal Review I&II
5-GRE Barrons Master Word List
6- TEFL (course book NUML)

I think this should be a fairly exhaustive list!!! Moreover, need not be scared ov exam, its level is Graduate (at max.) fairly easy! Pattern varies.......sometimes there is high incidence of Literature MCQs but normally it is slanted to test the language competence of the candidate. Vocabulary is not tooo tough or highly Latinate!

One good thing about the above-listed books is that these are almost flawless and have no or very few of the errors which is normally found in substandard non-text books!

The second portion is covered by two books 1-TEFL course book & 2- AT the CHALK-FACE both available at book banks of NUML university, ISD, LHR etc
any exx-student/alumnus can help you in it!
SAT I&II (verbal Review)are easily available from any old/new book shop in pindi/isd/lhr/khi.

Golden MCQs & GRE subject English Literature can be found at CHIK BAZAR (GOOd BOOK SHOP) .............. perhaps a branch in I-8 Markaz as well!

A little effort can get you an access to all these quality books!

My Interview conducted on 6th August, 2011 @ 9.26 AM, Hyderabad. Out of total 11+ questions, I skipped one about Submarine & answered incorrect the one about Poetic Justice.


Q.1: Demonstration on "Sublimity and it's sources."

Q.2: Analyze plot construction of Oedipus Rex.

Q.3: Describe theme of Shakespeare's Mid Summer Night's Dream.

Q:4: Contrast the characters of Quentin & Jason in William Faulkner's novel Sound and the Fury.

Q.5: What is Poetic Justice and what's it's importance in Greek Tragedy?

Q.6: At the time of inception of our country, her name was Pakistan. Why was it changed to Islamic Republic of Pakistan later?

Q.7: In a carnival, a juggler derives motorbike or motor car in circular path on a temporary set wooden walls. What principle/which law/etc applies to it (or keeps it from falling on the floor)?

Q.8: A submarine can move on the surface of the water as well as beneath the water. When it moves on the surface, Archimede's principle comes into force. What is it that enables it to travel beneath the water?

Q.9: Name the five birds which cannot fly.

Q.10: Pakistan & India have resumed dialogues again. What are the most important issues which must be resolved immediately. Enumerate them.

Q.11: What is Sha'a-i-rullah?

bhyya thanks best of luck . only 5 questions are from your subjects and remaing from GK .it seems they emphasised on GK ratherthan subject .some questions are difficult so as you have answered all questions except a few plz share your replies also .What is Sha'a-i-rullah?
