the departmental representative shall ask purely theoratical questions, the two fpsc members will ask as they like. In 2010 interview they asked people to read dua qanoot even. In my turn, najeeb ullah and muhammad ahmad mian asked not a single irrelevant question and focused on purely current economic issues like inflation, poverty etc. It depends upon members, they are unpredictable. Just focus on your theoratical side, and remain aware of fiscal and monetary applied side especially dawn pink pages, bit focus on development side, rest leave at Allah. This was my approach, i was first in my batch i.e against merit by this approach.

Thank you Sir, Just one more question about the nature of the job. In the advertisement it was mentioned that this is temporary appointment but is LIKELY TO CONTINUE. What this specifically means? Is this a contract job?

Not an iota of difference, of facilities to a Section Officer of OMG and this post, even as far as job nature except few important wings, rest of wings involve total secretarial work, and research is not involved any where. Even many officers are posted as SO, and you can be inducted in OMG as well from this group. But the "Privelleges" are exactly the same, of every BS-17 officer working in Pakistan Secretariat.

You will not be confined to Planning, Development and Reforms Ministry (the new name). This group like a cancer has seats in each and every ministry almost, and these are regular seats, upto BS 20. You it is not necessary that you will serve in Planning. It will be only your administrative ministry for posting transfers, if selected. I never worked a single day there, as i was posted in Commerce, my batch mate, Ms. Beenish Rehman, in Overseas Ministry, now in Finance she is. So be ready for most probable posting outside P&D. in 2011, there was not adequate space to seat officers in P Block already. So, you will be lucky if posted in EAD, Commerce, or Finance, i say.
you will be promoted to BS 18 exactly after five years, and in 18 on acting charge basis even before that. After that be ready for conversion of your hair in white color, in 18, 19 and 20. It will be v slow after bs 18. But now i heard situation is improving alot as far as promotions.
As compared to CSS, its much better than non sense groups like postal, railways, etc. You will have foreign trainings as well. My two batchmates uptil now went on trainings, Muhammad Naseem Nasar, RO, Education Ministry went to Egypt. Musab Umair, PIA Wing, P&D to Korea, so its not that dismal. Be hopeful.
Lastly, if CSS would have be manageable that easily with Government service, i woul dhave cleared css uptil now in 2012 or 2013. I have still to avail my first attempt in 2014 only due to job which impaired my preperations badly.
