Greetings everyone,
The following are a few questions I have w.r.t AD MoD, for anyone kind and knowledgeable enough to answer.

1. About screening: has anyone got any idea about the screening criteria? Attaining 50% of the total score or a certain percentage of candidates among the top scorers?

2. About descriptive: Two exams; are both taken on the same day?

A. Essay: So far, I've gathered that Candidates are required to write a comprehensive essay of 1200-1500 words within 2 hrs, on any one out of three given topics. Can anyone confirm this? also, is there a recommended safe word range for this Essay exam? e.g; CSS Essay paper mentions a 2500-3000 word limit but the majority of the qualifiers advocate 1600-2000 range in favour of maintaining relevance and quality..

B. QnA Paper. I've gathered that it involves 4 qs of C.A all of which are to be attempted. But I've also heard that there's' a Precis as well.. confirmation and guidance on this would be of much help to prepare ahead of time, just in case...

3. Psychological: will ask about that later, GOD willing

4. What factors (besides merit) could lead one to disqualification? To what extent is a candidate's background checked beyond his ownself? family etc

5. Any chance that candidates with certain educational background have edge over other candidates? The application form asked about Computer Skills certificates so, would not having any such certification be detrimental to a candidate's chances of selection.?

6. Last but not the least; What does "DIS" stand for? ( I guessed it was Directorate of Intelligence Services, but can't confirm) also, anyone ever heard of a successful Lady candidate?

Thanks in advance

About screening:
Totally depends on the scores of the candidates that fall within the top merit range. For instance, if there are 02 seats for a certain quota and the department shortlists 10 candidates per seat, then only those candidates will be called for the next phase who are the top 20 scorers regardless of how many numbers they got.

About descriptive:
Yes, both tests have been held on the same day since 2017.

A) Speaking from experience, this statement seems reasonable:
“but the majority of the qualifiers advocate 1600-2000 range in favour of maintaining relevance and quality..”

B) Precis has now become a part of CA paper since 2021-2022. Please refer to past papers available on the internet / social media.

Psychological: used to a single day exam back in the day but since 2021, candidates who qualify descriptive are called for a 03 day stay at a given location (please refer to ISSB process and you’ll have a general overview of this)

Some apparent disqualification criteria is obviously related to poor performance however, one cannot be certain of the rest. Cannot comment on the exact details of the security clearance as its an official process and I certainly do not wish to make assumptions about it. However, you can expect at least 2-3 layers of vetting.

Specific educational background edge: if its not categorically mentioned, its not going to happen - keep it simple as assumptions might make you think things you shouldn’t. But if you’re applying to a post that requires certain technical skills, you should fulfil the criteria.

DIS: can’t comment
Female candidates: if they’re part of the race, there might be some winners too.

Regards.

I will only answer the questions which have not been answered before
1. DIS: Defense Intelligence Services ( A tri-armed intelligence service of Pakistan)
2. Yes, topper of 2021 batch was a female (She was from Kp but selected on merit seat) also another lady was recommended in 2021 batch she was from Sindh
3. Security clearance is conducted by 9-11 agencies of Pakistan. Yes, they check everything including social media accounts, family, political affilitions etc
4. Every candidate is equal before the selection committee. What matters is the descriptive, screening, psychometic performance and viva. Overall score of the candidate makes up his/her merit

I hope this helps

1. So it's 1 Precis plus 4 C.A questions in the second paper?
2. Struggling here to find Descriptive Past papers. Should I find them on Fb (or which other platform do you recommend)?. Searched here on the forum but most material appeared to be pre-2021

Thanks a lot for taking out your precious time. I cannot appreciate it enough.
