You are welcome here in our group. Actually, for few days all active members have been busy in some personal activities therefore we could not do some worthy work here. Now it is being hoped that we shall again start doing the same job with same zeal. As per, question schedule is concerned, we usually solve at least 1 question on daily basis. It is not always certain to serve only one day for one question. It depends upon the nature of discussion. some important topics may take two or more days. What is important is that we try our utmost to make our efforts productive and result-oriented. Once all members of this thread get in touch with us, we shall again start sending our questions, and subsequently, attempting and assessing them. Your contribution to this effort will appreciatively be recognised and valued..

I am sending this question. All active members such as Fassi, sara, saba pervaiz, and others are requested to attempt.
Ijtihad can play an important role in the establishment of Muslim Ummah and the making of Humanity. (CE: 2008)
In order to meet challenges of modern times, there is a need to establish verstile institution of Ijtehad what measures would you suggest? (CE: 2009)

Thanks for appreciating our efforts. Yes, you are right that for few days our activities here have not been too warm. But it is not a matter of worry as it is hoped that, Insh'Allah, we are again going to start our efforts passionately. You just keep up sending your attempts here, we shall try our best to evaluate your work. Besides, I earnestly request all members to attempt the questions on regular basis so that we may keep our efforts lively and dynamic. It goes without saying that this way of dealing with different subjects is outstandingly beneficial.. I think most of the members are not taking part in discussions because of the problem that they have opted Islamiat in urdu. So, it is difficult for them to attempt here. I perceive that it will be better for us to start thread of any other subject so as to we may achieve as much positive outcome as possible. Sara, and fassi, we really need you here. In your absence this thread is spiritless, thus void. Please come back..

Regards..

“In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful”
Asalam-o-Alikum wa Rahmatuallahi wa Barakatuhu,

Man’s Vicegerency / Khilafah

Introduction:

Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) constitutes the ideological foundation of Islam, the concept of man’s Khilafah (vicegerency/caliphate) provides the operational framework for the Islamic scheme of life. Man, according to the teachings of Islam, is the representative and vicegerent of Allah on earth. This world is a trust and man is its trustee. It is not a personal property of an individual or people which could be used or misused to satisfy personal desires. It is man's responsibility to manage the world according to Allah's instructions and promote divine guidance. This great world- - including animals, birds, trees, rivers, mountains, gold, silver, and all it contain - - has been given to the care of man because he is more familiar than anyone else with the world (as he is himself made of dust) and has also a genuine interest in it. Thus, because he has knowledge of the world and interest in it - -two essential conditions for a successful trustee - - he can be a good caretaker of the world.

Declaration of Vicegerency (Khilafah):

The human being, in the Islamic world-view is considered a vicegerent (khalifah). This vicegerency is declared before the creation of the first human being:
“Behold, your Lord said to the angels: ‘I will create a vicegerent on earth.’ They said: ‘Will place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood? While we do celebrate Your praises and glorify Your holy (name)?’ He said: ‘I know what you know not.’” (Qur’an, 2:30 )

Criterion For Granting Vicegerency:

The declaration of the institution of khilafah, which Allah [S.W.T] has informed the angels about, was reinforced by the verse that shows that Allah [S.W.T] has taught Adam the ‘names’ (Asma’) of all things:

“And He taught Adam the nature [names] of all things.” (Qur’an, 2:31 )

Therefore, vicegerency is based upon knowledge that enables the human being to be a care taker of self and society along with rest of the creation as much as possible. Humanity should behave in such a way that would maintain the balance in all walks of life.

Man Most Suitable for Managing the World:

When Allah created Adam and made him His vicegerent on earth, the angels who are innocent and do not commit sins, submitted to Allah that as man was inclined to quarrel and shed blood on earth, the vicegerency might be granted to them as they glorified Him and remained engaged in worshiping Him all the time. Allah replied the angels that they did not know the matters of the world. He then tested Adam and the angels by asking them certain questions relating to the world. As Adam was made of dust and had a natural interest in the world, he answered Allah's questions correctly whereas the angels lacking this natural interest in the things of the world failed. Thus Allah established that in spite of all weaknesses man alone was most suitable for managing the world. In fact, his natural weaknesses themselves qualified him for this position. If the world were run by angels, most gifts of God put into it, which were discovered and developed by man due to his interest and need, would have remained unknown and unused.

Man as a Vicegerent of Allah:

In his capacity as a vicegerent, the human being is perceived as the trustee of the earth. He is not supposed to cause corruption in any form on earth (i.e. the environment). Life on earth entails great responsibilities. It is a test with accountability. It is followed by either reward or punishment. These meanings are mentioned in the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Vicegerency as a test is found in the following verse:

“It is He Who has made you (His) vicegerents, inheritors of the earth: He has raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He has given you: for your Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Qur’an, 6:165)

Vicegerency is Man’s Test and Trust:

It is rather clear, now, that the Islamic world-view indicates that vicegerency on earth forms a test which includes how human beings fulfil right and duties for themselves and each other along with rest of the creation . Is it going to be based upon divine instructions, not based upon personal desires and conjectures that might lead to the destruction of Islamic fabric. If the latter condition prevails, then vicegerency will be entrusted to a different people or generation. This possibility of this kind of switch is understood from the following two verses:

“…Call in remembrance that He made you inheritors after the people of Noah…” (Qur’an, 7:69)
“And remember how He made you inheritors after the `Ad people and gave you habitation in the land…” (Qur’an, 7:74)

So, as a vicegerent and representative man has a duty to fully follow the instructions of his master. His personality and precept should reflect the values of his master. To act as a vicegerent of Allah on earth requires that man must inculcate in himself His qualities which should mould his manners. We have been taught that the qualities and attributes of Allah include knowledge, mercy, appreciativeness, administrative ability, forgiveness, benevolence, justice, love, grandeur, beauty, and power to protect- and punish. Prophet Muhammad, blessings and peace be on him, taught mankind to acquire Allah's attributes ("Adorn yourself with the qualities of Allah").

In spite of inherent limitations, man can, on the limited human scale, develop in himself attributes of Allah. He can never be God, but he can exhibit Allah's great attributes in his character as Allah's vicegerent. One can imagine that if man becomes mindful of his responsibility as Allah's vicegerent on earth and thus strives to inculcate in himself divine moral attributes, how high he can rise as a human being and how pleasant and prosperous the world can become under his vicegerency. Religion, as a matter of fact, provides man with the sublimest and most balanced concept of life. It grants him a position as Allah's vicegerent, responsible for administering things on earth as His representative and functioning as a caretaker of this great trust, which brings upon mankind an unprecedented honour.

Observation of His Vicegerency:

On the other hand, this vicegerency is subjected to observation:

“Then We made you heirs in the land after them, to see how you would behave!” (Qur’an, 10:14 )

The same message is implied in the Hadith [narration] of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him:

“Verily, this world is sweet and appealing, and Allah placed you as vicegerents therein; He will see what you will do. So, be careful of [what you do in] this world and [what you do to/with] women, for the first test of the children of Israel was in women!” (Muslim, Sahih)

Conclusion:

The Vicegerency of man with the subjection of resources for inhabitation to reach excellence in hereafter is the ultimate goal.

"And the believers, the men and the women, are friends protecting each other; they command what is proper and forbid what is improper, keep up prayer and pay the Zakat (welfare due); and they obey God and His Messenger. It is these on whom God will have mercy. Surely, God is All-Mighty, All-Wise. God has promised to the believers, men and women, Gardens beneath which rivers flow, forever therein to dwell, and goodly dwelling-places in the Gardens of Eden, and greater than anything else, God’s good pleasure (and acceptance from Him). That is the supreme triumph." (Q 9:71-72)

"And whosoever does a righteous deed, be they male or female, and is a believer, We shall assuredly given them a goodly life to live; and We shall certainly reward them according to the best of what they did." (Q 16:97)

I don't know why you people (sSara, ShakeelGhori, SabaPervaiz,Pearl013 etc.) are reluctant to answer these question. Please at least attempt the question in right or wrong way. Thanks

Regards...

---F@SsI---

It is well attempted but you could not attempt the components of the question. Start was well but end was not bad, you beaten a dead horse.

You missed a lot of important things, which were the prime contexts in your question.

Suggestions and your minor mistakes.
(I am a bit assure that you would might not mind my reasonable criticism on your attempt)

Let me point out your obstacles & little mistakes in your answer.

1-Lack of institution of Vicegerent.

2-Why ALLAH made vicegerent? You did not explained it well in your own context.

3-You had to elaborate supremacy of Quran & Sunnah with respect to vicegerent.

4-You had to concentrate on phrase. 'Man is a vicegerent of Allah on the earth' did you have defined this clearly>? off course not, you didn't.

5-Due to phrase you had to define that man is the most suitable for managing the world and Position of Man as Vicegerent of Allah.

6-One thing should be noted. It is a key point. While attempting your answer don't bite your tongue. There is no need of many references. Try to get your ideas cleared and attempt it accordingly.

Although you attempted well, due to your irrelevancy you have attained 11/16.

Let's see what is next more and ALLAH BLESS YOU IN YOUR NEXT ATTEMPT.

Shakeel, you and ssara both have the leading activity on this thread. I am amazed that you people have become too much lazy?

There are many members which I have seen are interested, even though you have not been leading your activity since your and sara's last attempt.

But fassi is doing well.
ALLAH BLESS YOU.

Please everybody must read this all..
You are right dear shareena, we are not taking keen interest in discussions. Actually, I was busy for few days, therefore could not come here. I think sara is also busy in her any personal activity. We know that the enthusiasm of members seems to have lost since no one is active. At the same time it is a point of pleasure for us that few new members have joined our group with good intentions. I am of the belief that the problem of less participation of members has arisen since we started this thread as it is true that it was not the case in Pakistan affairs. Actually most of the members have opted Islamiat in urdu hence are incapable of attempting here. This imbroglio has made it difficult for many to participate here. According to my option now it is imperative to replace Islamiat with any other subject so that we may save our time and can do as much effectively as possible. We can start Islamiat again in the later stages of preparation here.
Keeping this in view, and since sara is absent, I am going to start a new thread. I earnestly request to all active members such as sara, fassi, saba, pearlys, pearl013, shahreena, and others to take part. This new thread is of EDS. We shall try to cover all essential topics as soon as possible. All interested members especially active members are required to send their useful recommendations as per essential and forthcoming paper's expected questions are concerned. Remember the decision of selecting EDS as a subject of discussion is not final as it is my own opinion. It could be changed if the recommendations from other members happen to be divergent. All that is needed is a quick response in connection of this vital initiative. Please dears come forward to make this effort remarkable. Keep in mind that I am not going to start new thread unless the responses from active and other members is received.
Sara I am starting this thread only because you are absent and time is going in vain.

Regards..

Firstly I am very thankful to you for your great response. EDS is easy and can be prepared by ourselves. EDS is large subject, may be it would get our time too much. Therefore start another subject. Psychological is the best subject to start now. Because you can watch the css forum in Psychology's portion, most of the people have opted Psychology. I vote for Psychology. Thanks.
