Post 18th constituional amendment; President Zardari deserves credit.

Finally the draft of the much awaited 18th amendment has been signed by the constitutional reforms committee and it will be presented in the parliament soon. President Zardari has been much maligned for not shedding the powers that he had acquired from Musharraf, now is the time to give credit to him and his government. It was a PPP led government in 1973 that gave the constitution and again it is a PPP led government that has purged the constitution of all the dictatorial amendments. One thing is clear that much of the propaganda that was going on against this government and President Zardari was ill.founded. Opposition was just playing politics by saying that Zardari was no different from Musharraf. A question arises that did Musharraf give up 58-2b? Did Musharraf restore the judges? Still if the people think that Zardari is a threat to democracy then i dont know when we will be awaken. The government has fulfilled yet another promise by amending the constitution. Now the Zardari bashers will have to found some other excuse of criticising the government. Media must behave responsibly instead of making a mess of everything and the judiciary must also learn a few things from the past.

Oh my dear friend , please try to think from your mind and logically see who have done what... in my thinking there is no democracy in our country in true sense.. .. yes the current government has many things at its credit, unemployment offcouse that is because of global receission and terrorism ignited by previous regime, no electricity yes yes it is also because of previous governments who didnt build dams, inflation yes this is also result of poor policies of previous governments, construction of dams by India off course its result of no hue and cry by governments when india started construction of dams in 1990s and continued in 2000, balochistan crisis yes yes that is only because of wrong policies of previous government, high prices of every commodity is a result of high oil prices in whole world...

This government had done marvelous things in connivance with the opposition political parties in last two years and everything is excellent in our country and every problem is either caused by previous governments or is a result of leg pulling by estalbishment and bureacracy.... .. and the biggest culprit are the people of this great country, why they have born here rather they must have been born in any other impure country... Perhaps they need to add a provisio in Constitution of Pakistan through 18th amendment that the government will write a letter to Almighty ALLAH not to send any person in Pakistan, who can think from his own mind, this will be totaly wastage of time of Almighty and Allah should send only those people who are 'Yes Man'... is'nt it great idea to deliberate this in Parliament and Provincial Assemblies! They are having great time for such fruitful discussions ...

@ Tabassum shabbir Awan.

Try to think without any prejudice. The government has done all the right things, but you cannot see that happening because you are biased. There was democracy during Zia era, Musharraf era? President Zardari has become the first president of Pakistan to have handed over the powers of the dictators. If this is not democracy then perhaps there would never be one. And it is easier to criticise like you by sitting in the drawing room but it is very difficult to come and perform. It is not easy to offer sacrifices like the ones offered by Benazir and her father.

@TSA

One of the tremendous achievements of the PPPP government will be passing 18th amendment bill successfully and restoring the Constitution of 1973 to its original status and making some necessary additions in accordance with time and needs.

PPPP government has the credit to introduce Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Package which is unfortunately not implemented with letter and spirit but we hope it will be an important move towards the solution of Balochistan Issue.

Political sagacity of PPPP leadership is considerable. NFC Award is a marvelous achievement of the present government. Subjects of the Concurrent List will be transferred to the provinces which will make them autonomous.

Musharaf era made Pakistan weak and instable and that was perhaps the plan of disintegrating Pakistan. Suicide attacks, Energy Crisis, vulgarity in the country, state sponsored musical programs and a Dancer President made the country vulnerable.

It does not sound well for a President to threaten a veteran and respected personality for murder – as Musharaf did in the case of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. Baloch were or might be ready for any compromise but he infuriated them by killing a veteran and respected Nawab who represented a nation. What king of democracy was that even an ex-CM and Governor was killed?

Bad governance and maladministration of Musharaf era can’t be overcome in two years. Current government doesn’t possess Alah Din’s Lamp to built Dams so quickly as demanded by people. Blaming democracy at its initial stages in our country amounts to negation of the representatives of the government.

PPPP government is selected by government and voters will approve or reject their decisions. We should let the democracy to flourish smoothly. Once a government will be bad, twice it will be bad but ultimately if it is not intercepted then no doubt we will enjoy the fruits of democracy eventually.

yes, credit goes to Mr Zardari..im saying again and again that i appreciate present government reconciliation policy...but it seems that our media is bent upon criticizing government and particularly Mr Zardari...our judiciary should also take sane decisions...why supreme court only takes actions against Mr Zardari...?is there any system to check the worth of supreme court'verdicts?everbody has the right to differ with my views, but i know that im not wrong in my approach...18th amendment is a gift of prenest govt to the nation..despite the fact that Mr Sharif created impediments by making "issues" of trivial matters,e.g.renaming Nwfp...its not necessary to oppose govt every time(and support judiciary everytime)...

Question

your approach is seems to be pro zardari not impartial.there is remained a lot of facts that present govt.has totally failed to maintain law and order, reduction of goods prices, electricity, and all those matters from which a common man influenced.we will see, further, which prosperity will come into country by this so called 18th amendment and how would a common person get benefit by this amendment.....

yes zardari and ppp deserves all the credit
but i want to know how this 18th amendment is going to change our social, economic and political situation
old players, same faces, same way of corruption, same governance, upper level independent judiciary, strong army
i am not hopeful about this 18 th amendment.its not going to change anything
it has only supported politicians. but one thing after this politicians will not have any safe heaven to hide from issues.
but to comment on it i will say after it is accepted:
"Today we have achieved a glorious victory over past. Dictatorship is uprooted by ppp and mr.president is so helpful and humble to accept all issues.18th amendment is going to change what has not done before. good governance is now going to prevail.institutions are going to get strong. judiciary is going to be more powerful now.Yes, it is a great achievement by PPP. Mr.president zardari sb deserves credit for this historical achievement"

Nope dear fellows i m not at all biased to PPPP, i had been ardent advocate of the party and sacrifices but these are not those sacrificers...

moot point is what on tangible grounds will be the result of 18th amendment and the policies of current government? what is the result? no doubt democratic system is bettr than the autocratic system, but where is democracy? the country is not standing where it was 2 years back rather it has gone backwards.. same drone attacks, same clamouring for independance of balochistan, sky rocketing prices of everything, great inflation, great unemployment... positively speaking alas there is no governance.. ..
