Cool man.. those are some awesome scores! I could only secure close to 1350.. I mean.. if God forbid, you don't get nominated in this scheme, I would say, it would have nothing to do with your abilities.. By the way, with this score, you can very easily get a scholarship from any of the universities too.. Have you tried Fullbright too? It is equally as good as the Commonwealth Scholarship in terms of 'perks'

And what about your CSS plan? I see, since you are on the forum, you are interested in that thing too.. Which uni are you from?

Thereafter the development of merit lists, based on performance in NTS test and quotas, takes place over the next month. In case you are successful in making in to the merit list, you will be notified by the Ministry in early November and asked to submit the IELTS score, academic documents, essays and reference letteres by the first week of December (strict timeline observed). These documents of 'nominated candidates' would be sent to the Commonwealth Commission by the Ministry in December this year. The Commission would review the documents and if it desires to offer you a scholarship they will write to you in late March or early April. This will be a provisional notification. From this point onwards the Commission will try to secure an admission for you in one of your preferred universities (which you point out in the form you submit in December after being nominated by the Ministry of Education). In case the Commission is able to secure an admission for you, it will confirm you of the Scholarship award somewhere in Mid of June. At this point the Commission then starts administrative arrangements for travel and visa etc.
I applied for the scholarship last september, and only yesterday I got the Ticket/visa; everything done. In short, it is almost one year process before you actually proceed to study.

AOA!

I am afraid I might not be able to answer your query as I am unaware of the details regarding Malaysian batch of students, but the number is certainly lesser than those of proceeding to UK.

Default Help Requested

Dear Sir

I have just received letter from MOE that I have been nominated for Common Wealth Scholarship 2010 tenable in UK. They have asked me to provide them with IELTS score, academic documents and research proposal/study plan.
Sir I am confused whether I should send study proposal or study plan. I am also confused how to write a study plan.

I have done BE from NED with 3.55 CGPA and MBA Finance from CBM with silver medal and 3.68 CGPA. I have also given GMAT exam and scored 660 out of 800. Now I am confused whether I should also send my MBA transcript along with GMAT score. Since I am going for a masters degree therefore whether these two things will be positively taken or not.

Please advise me on the next steps towards availing this scholarship.

Thanks
Your Brother
Adnan

First of all, my heartiest congratulations on clearing the first step. You must always know and feel proud that this in itself is an achievement as very few people would have cleared this step. You would be one of the lucky 30 out of ~7000 who would have made to this step even. From this point onwards, a lot depends upon your (i) previous academic record, (ii) your creative ability to make a strong case for the Commission, and (iii) luck and prayers to Lord Almighty.

You would have been told to submit these documents, latest by the first week of December. For the IELTS, hurry to the British Council or Australian Education Office (whichever is feasible) and register for the earliest possible date to sit in the exam. In the meanwhile, you must prepare your study plan and the essay on 'benefit to home country'.

First of all download the form from the website of the Commonwealth Commission's website. (http://www.cscuk.org.uk/apply/develo...holarships.asp). It seems like this year they switched to online application system, and moved away from a paper system. Go through the form with care. In case you need the paper based form, I can send it to you. The whole thing about writing your study plan and other things is explained very well. The reason I am telling you to go through with 'care' is that while reading the instructions you will find certain very subtle points, you should be aware of and can make use of while preparing your application.

These things do not matter a lot, as long as you can justify your programme choice well, and logically design your study plan which falls in line with your past doings (academic and otherwise), and your future plans. Your choice of Masters degree at this stage would matter a lot and how creatively you fit it well in the scheme of things. I mean, I went from an Engineering background to a programme in Public Management. I justified my case that I want to join the Civil Services.

My advice to you at this stage would be to start thinking aggressively right from now. You have one good month with you to prepare an award winning case. Brainstorm with your friends, family, teachers on all possible questions that might appear in the minds of the evaluator of your application in Commonwealth Commission and then try answering them in your application. Start drafting the essays (study plan, benefit to country). It will take many takes to finally improve upon your work and get final products. Also be aware that you have to get recommendation letters (3 in number) from your teachers/manager as well. Focus on this issue. These letters should be good, and start following up your teachers to write them in time. Don't delay this matter. Also, by good, I do not mean that these letters should portray you as a super human being. But these should be balanced writings, going in line with what you are saying in your essays, and highlighting certain qualities of your personality which the Commonwealth Commission might be interested in. You can always request your teachers to take care of these points when drafting these letters. But start working on this aspect too.

Finally make your utmost try to get this IELTS thing done as soon as possible and other requirements that might have been asked for. In our batch one guy who was awarded the scholarship and admission could not get through as he failed to produce the stupid IELTS score card in time. But don't worry, you are still within time. The reason I am emphasising is not to delay it any further.

@adnan-mba and maliasghar

AoA. Congrats to you adnan for the achievement. I am also among the lucky ones to have cleared the first step. I have a question for both of you: The letter from MoE says that we need to download the form from their website (www.cscuk.org.uk) but I am unable to download any form, rather I believe that they have switched the whole system this year to electronic i.e., the application needs to be submitted online and the resultant form to be given to nominating agency (MoE in this case). Am I right? Adnan, are you able to download ANY form from the website? Now if we have to submit the form online, then here is the other issue, it says that the deadline for Pakistan was 20th October which is already passed and hence it wouldn't continue with the application Long story short, I am stuck: There is no form and I am unable to submit the app online. Help me out guyz, waiting for your reply. Thanks alot

@samreen_ali: This scholarship comes on an annual basis. First step is to sit in a NTS test that is conducted around August-Sep (add appears in all national newspapers, bookmark their website), once you have cleared this then their are documents to submit and blah blah. By clearing this test, I mean to say that you must be in the top 20-25 of the total applicants (which are usually around ~10K - it might sound tough but if you believe in urself and do some smart prep, believe me, you can pull this off.
