If this happens then do we have to arrange for stipend only or we have to pay the university fees on our own as well ?

excellent idea :-) I have already sent a mail and request all other Koc scholars (and korean scholars) as well to demand for the stipend before we go ... from my previous experience i know that one needs a lot of money to settle up initially and from Koc documents we see that our bank accounts will open atleast by the end of the first month which might drag to mid of next month; advance stipend is very important for us ...

Dear Mr Naveed,

Thanks for your concerns, HEC is not first time sending scholars to overseas, around 8000 have been sent to around 25 countries, so we know our process very well, you will get your two month stipend and air ticket before your departure. Secondly those who are going to KOC, they have benefit of no accommodation and food charges, so you hardly need any money just for some personal requirements.

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing fine. I have been selected for HEC-UESTP scholarship to proceed to Koc University, Turkey and have submitted all the requisite documents to HEC as well. I have been waiting for the air ticket and advance stipend as told by HEC, but have not received any information yet.

I have been to foreign countries for study before and I know it as a fact that in the first couple of months one spends a lot on settling up as well as basic expenses. Also, from the documents sent by Koc University, it is clear that we would have certain upfront expenses and our bank accounts would be opened earliest by the start or mid of our second month in Turkey meaning we would not be able to receive any stipend during that period. This means that we would be requiring the start up advance stipends before we leave so that we can mange our expenses.

The air ticket is a similar story as we don't know when we will be leaving. That is important because one has to complete all the responsibilities at ones home, buy some bare essentials for the stay and meet up ones relatives to say goodbye. Also, one gets important details such as baggage allowed to manage their baggage accordingly. HEC can very well tell us to wind up and leave at a week's notice but that would be difficult to manage for us.

In light of all these things, I request you to share information about advance stipend and ticket booking at the earliest. I hope for a quick response from you.

What is average monthly expenses at KOC UNIVERSITY? and how much HEC is giving monthly?

Anyone knows how HEC will pay advance stipend? I mean they give us cheque or transfer in our bank?

Its a fact that HEC is sending many scholars every year and they know their procedure very well...
Before there was no policy for advance stipend when i went to South Korea for MS in Hanyang University in 2009 i didnt get any stipend...
for the safe side, if you can then arrange 500 to 1000 $, if HEC pay you stipend its good otherwise you have your starting funds...
For KOC university u didnt need lot of money as they provide accommodation ...
I talked to Mr. Waseem last week and he said that InshaAllah we will get stipend and Ticket by the end of august..The reason for delay is late release/transfer of funds due to holidays (eid and 14th august) and they have enough funds right now to pay for tickets, they are only waiting bcoz of stipends...

I quit the race. As I did not get the concern supervisor for my PhD.

And from SKKU I did not any reply from supervisors the skku just send email of admission.

got email from HEC asking for passport and visa scanned. i applied for visa at islamabad korean embassy on 5th august but have not got visa yet, i hope they give visa in next couple of days,

If you didn't get your supervisor then how you got admission?
