salam.

Well i guess that many forum members have misconstrued me.i said that after getting the impression from forum members.

And i also said that please tell me how can this preference list be improved.
I made my choice after thoughtful deliberations.

By the way a group which doesn't come up at the top priority level of would be CSPs gives us sufficient proof that when CSPs belonging to the said group laud the opportunities of that group, they are simply be-fooling themselves.
Most CSPs become defensive when they arrive in Postal,Railways,PAAS,CTG,OMG,IG.And most CSPs from these lower groups don't mention their group in their profile except a few.(Hats of to the Daring).

By the way i can give sufficient proof that i appeared in CSS-2010.i passed it in CSS-2010 and i also know many CSPs of 37th Common. Many 37th common CSPs who reappeared in CSS-2010 had their examination centre at Lahore board.i also had my test centre there.

Any way.

I will keep asking learned members about preferences as i eally need help.

Regards.

@Sikander-007

Your preference list would appear mind-boggling to most and that is why some of us might have thought that this was a fake post.

However, if you insist, I will like to query your choice of keeping PSP and DMG as low as 6th and 7th respectively and bringing MLCG, OMG and IG as high as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, before your preference list can be discussed any further and advice regarding improvements to your preference list can be given.

You know Sir,this is a very strange world of CSS.It is full of ironies.

Think sir.you pass CSS and you say that i will place MLCG on number 1 and people will think you mad and insane. And,people will question the wisdom behind keeping a group that is at the bottom most.People will never think that you may be propelled by patriotism or any messianic zeal to reform and restore any decaying institution like Railwaysor MLCG-an MLCG officer is only a clerk of the army. But,surely people will think that you are highly patriotic and motivated-as you will always try to justify-if you select police.
Isn't this all full of ironies and dichotomies that when a candidate by trendy marking arrives in Postal and Railways or IG he starts justifying that this group has merits and Police and DMG have demerits.

Nobody wants to be an underdog whether he arrives in IG,Postal,MLCG.So,he always justifies that group-and he should because society is based on interdependency. And i believe that only an insane will think of justifying his superiority by degrading members belonging to lower groups.

But still, one has to admit that a "Brahman" will always a "Brahman" and a "Shooder" will always remain a "shooder".

Nevertheless,my post should be read with patience.

A few days ago i met a candidate who appeared in CSS-2010.He had a very typical thing to tell about the mentality of sudents-by the way he had come to me to study geography. He said that it was a very healthy sign that he had failed in CSS-2010 because even if he had passed his marks would have been low and he would have been allocated in Postal. That person hadn't even passed CSS-2010 and he was dreading god forbid he had been saved from IG,Postal and railways. He said that after looking at his mark sheet.

This CSS is a sick affair Sir.

Thank you for reading brothers and sisters.

Regards.

Ok, so we can assume then that you were "propelled by patriotism or messianic zeal to reform and restore decaying institutions" when you decided to keep MLCG at 1, followed by OMG and IG but then why you kept Railways and Postal at 9 and 10 respectively? considering that in your opinion Railways too is a decaying institution.

Also in your first post you mentioned for IG that "IG(because you remain in direct contact with ministers)" What patriotic goals do you wish to achieve by being in direct contact with Ministers?

You have painted an interesting depiction of candidate psychology regarding their preferences but I am sure that readers would be more interested in knowing why you kept your preferences in the order you suggested in your first post.

Salam Sir Sandhurst.

Well Sir,you are a rare talent and interrogator.I am much pleased with your earlier posts.I am still undecided about the occupational group and the preference order. In reality i wanted to see the eager response of my forum fellows. When candidates go for Postal or IG after being allocated they start lauding their privileges and perks.i wanted to explore how will my seniors guide me and how would the would-be CSPs help their brother who is on a suicide mission.

And haan i don't want to undermine the worth of any group.i state this unequivocally. What i wanted to gauge is that why do CSPs behave in a hypocrite manner when they are allocated in a bottom group?

You can grope my previous posts.I have mentioned my actual preferences for CSS-2010.

They go like this

PSP/DMG
Pakistan Customs and
IRS
no group below this.Since i am about to appear in CSS-2011,i have deliberately avoided including bottom line groups.

But,again brother i am damn confused at this moment.

Any way i will keep asking.

Thank you forum members.

@Sikander-007

Thanks for your compliments which I certainly do not deserve.

You wrote:

In support of your argument, you cited the following example:

"When candidates go for Postal or IG after being allocated they start lauding their privileges and perks".

I am no expert in psychology but I agree that many candidates after getting a group which otherwise appears undesirable, start appreciating it. This, I think is due to a combination of human psyche and some reality rather than any hypocracy.

Initially, a person may be depressed at getting a group which he/she does not desire. Later on, to feel better, that person can start to look for the positives in that group. Many a times, such a person starts seeing only the positive side of the group without thinking about the negatives. This results in alleviating the bad feelings he/she might have felt about the group initially. Some persons may acquire positive information about the group to which they have been allocated and some taste actual facilities in groups like Railways & Postal about which there are many mis-perceptions and bad publicity.

Therefore, one should not worry and label this trend as hypocracy. Instead, this seems like perfectly explainable normal human behaviour.

Not sure, what confuses you now? Please read the discussions in this thread closely and I hope your confusion about preferences will be removed.
