@ Artemis.
Its not an issue about data entry operators. It is not necessary that all the candidates of css-2009 who have applied for css-2010 will actually appear in the papers. FPSC has done the right thing by asking the candidates, who really want to appear and whose exams and interview dates coincide, to contact FPSC so that their interview dates may be adjusted. |

Then why don't they ask all the candidates of 2010 and arrange exams for only those who actually intend to appear? Another right thing as per your theory! This is not about data entry operators this is about a three to four lines SQL query from database they already maintain.

@Artemis
I agree it could've been done with a single SQL query but I guess they feel more comfortable involving the candidates in the process and sharing responsibility with them....giving tension is govt's job in pak rather than takin it away now it'll create a semi-confuse state with people calling them some worried others might not even find out about the press release Well I am also confused My interview is in peshawar and the schedule for that is not even out yet so how would I know whether there is going to be a clash or not...genius huh

No offence meant but let me put it bluntly. In css-2009, Candidates applied: 9057 Candidates appeared 5707. So according to your opinion the remaining 3000 something candidates applied for fun sake? What i mean is that FPSC has not yet issued interview schedule for March, because it will conduct interviews of those candidates in March who don't want to appear in 2010 exam.

While I do agree with Artemis to some extent, I believe there is no way to do this without the personal involvement of the individuals, FPSC can not on it's own accord, make decisions regarding this.
It may very well be true that I passed CE2009 and applied for CE2010, does not necessarily mean I can not change my mind, or have not already. If they act on their own, without my consultation, it will result in frustration, disappointment and a waste of time. For those who have applied and also want to appear, it's not a big enough deal to try and find out, give them a call, I am sure this question keeps people checking the latest news from FPSC, as everyone wants to know if exams are getting delayed or not. I honestly believe, it is not something anyone can easily overlook. Lastly, no agency, govt or pvt, will ever take such decisions affecting you, on their own. Exclusion of liability is the foremost principle, they do not want you complaining and hogging them later on, granted, some agencies call people personally to inform them, but mostly they do not due to certain restrictions. FPSC uses the printmedia, they place their ads in the newspapers, that is considered sufficient, if you consider, getting something printed in the newspaper suffices even for legal matters, such as changing your name, or summoning someone to a court hearing. In the case of legal matters, your liability ends after the publication in a major newspaper, hence I do believe FPSC has done the right thing. Thank you for reading.

If we keep on sticking to the conventional methods, and stay conservative or somewhat afraid of using the computers which are otherwise meant to be used and not just to be put on the tables with flat screens so that it would add to the serenity of their offices, (thats the unfrtunate mindset of all of us),, then there is no chance of improvement. And we must give importance to worthy suggestions, and negate not just for da sake of objection. |

@kukikhel
May be they just can’t understand it the way we do. Like when we go to study Computers they tell us the very first day that we use computers because they produce timely and more reliable information, same data can be put to a number of different purposes and the manual overhead is removed. But they think this overhead is justified as it sounds more ‘responsible’ of FPSC.
