I do not consider myself an expert yet, but thank you for your kind words. And Ameen too.

One thing I felt during my first attempt is that CSS requires a broad and holistic approach to phenomena. And I have a Finance background, and was averse to all sorts of political drama; a mere scan of headlines was all I did, except for business related news. This meant that I had to begin from the basic concepts to gain insight into the Current and Pakistan Affairs.

So far, the strategy I am adopting for 2018 is excessive reading, both newspaper and books. And also write, write, write. Time management is of essence in the exam, and I couldn't produce my thoughts in due time.

As I mentioned, I have a finance background and hail from Punjab. My subjects as mentioned in the original post were: Accountancy, Gender Studies, Criminology, Sociology and History of USA.

So, it is the time to move on. The sooner people realize the gravity of problems, the sooner they will emerge out of their pitfalls in urdu

Yesterday, I attended a seminar in JWT. I asked the speaker the same question, she told that FPSC will not going to make this happen. Yes, there is a possibility of adding an essay in Urdu along with English, or adding Urdu as a subject in compulsories. It will take years to implement Urdu medium of expression in CSS

How funny is this that the order of implementing Urdu language in CSS was written in English.

Yes, I am comfortable with Accounting. Business Administration wasn't my choice owing to the lengthy syllabus, and that too for mere 100 marks. But I will rethink.

I have already prepared for Gender Studies, and found excellent material on it. As for Indo-Pak history, again given the changed pattern of Pakistan Affairs this year, I might get myself into a redundant subject, don't you think?

IR is the gold-standard optional for CSS, I might have to drop Accounting for it.

Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
Your welcome ma'am. Need prayers. Jazak'ALLAH Khairan.
Resume with G. S then. Yes, I. R has of much importance. It's like something of everything. It makes you a jack of all trades.

Sociology is an evergreen subject. I got 67 in my maiden attempt. I had no satisfactory preparation, but Alhumdulillah, I studied it in BBA hons so I had a taste for it. It's just a sharing to tell you people that there is no hard and fast rule in opting social science subjects in general and sociology particular. It's your understanding of the question and presentation that all counts at the end.

Good luck.

Stay blessed.

I tend to shy away from IR as it requires in depth study and broadening of the mind, which I am afraid I might not be able to gain till the exam, hence scoring low. Plus, I was never a history junkie, which means I have just a workable knowledge of major world events.

Wow that's a handsome number there, so Sociology stays. Gender Studies stays, I might have to rethink Accounting and Criminology.

Or if I go through the major concepts of IR, and stick to Accounting, will that not suffice?

I am facing somewhat similar situation like you.

I have computer science major and I am sure to get good marks in computer science, but IR is a subject that is going to cover Essay.

The problem for me that having computer science and finding a way to write 3000 words essay most of which are somehow related to IR.

That is a tough call for both of us. You decide and don't forget to inform us as well.
