dear sir i m sad if u are annoyed by my words,,,i assure u that i didnt mean that,,,personally i dont believe in such discrimination,,,,in ur province u wd b at the difference of very few marks which made another fellow to fall in DMG group,,, in other provinces r in AJK fellows below ur merit would b in DMG,,,, all this shows that not at any cost u r any other one in any group is less important,,, but i was pointing towards our colonial mindset which has unnecessarily "sublimed" this group....i personally believe in humanism and functional specialization of all jobs,,,,, if for the sake of reflecting the reality my words were not liked by u , i m sorry for that,,,,

hey OMG guys and galz...been long since i last visited ur end of the town...hmmm..hopeur all enjoying and having loads and loads of fun...and guys ..chill...believe me u'd love it once u get into the job..hmmm loads of questions that need to answered..well the house ceiling wud be 15000 and initially u ppl wud have to serve in the capital..i.e., islamabad...but then again u can have urself transferred to the provinces if u have gud strings to pull...secondly...there are deputations and scholarships..and the aid agency fellows just adore u guys..and man o man they have some money to offer...and thirdly..u ppl are going to control the establishment divison...all the groups are goin to come runnin after u fellows for postings and transfrs and ...well the list goes oon...so chill guys and have fun...and u'll get it all.

By the way i am not in OMG,I am in Postal Group and there we have a kuul administrative set up in a limited sphere but officers are very well taken care of with Accomodation,medical,offical vehicle and even an orderly in most cases but OMg has its own scope and dynamism

Yes i made a mistake in writing my preferences...and secondly i have been allocated on MERIT VACANCIES and not on PUNJAB QUOTA

Oh i might have made a mistake in writing my allocations in the right order here...I actually kept OMG above PAAS as i have no interest in PAAS...My first Preference is DMG but i'm happy with the fact that i have been allocated in OMG

is there any foreign tours or visits in STP of OMG group. I think OMGians should be provided a chance to visit secretariats of one of two foreign organizations or they should be given foreign training in personnel management.

ED to promote ex-cadre section officers shortly

ISLAMABAD, July 22: Promotion Board of the Establishment Division (ED) will meet within few days to approve the promotion of a batch of 50 ex-cadre section officers to deputy secretaries.

Another batch of the Central Superior Services (CSS) qualified regular officers of the Office Management Group (OMG) has raised its protest against the proposed promotion, terming it violation of seniority rules.

According to sources, a tug of war in going on between the regular CSS qualified and ex-cadre officers for registering their name in the proposed list of officers who will be approved by the board.

Sources in the ED told Dawn that the ex-cadre officers, including a good number of non-regular officers who have been inducted from other departments, are junior to regular CSS qualified officers but the division has brought them to the agenda of the board on priority bases.

According to the office promotion rules, seniority of the civil servants will be maintained by the date of entry in the cadre or group. In this case, the section officers were inducted in the OMG on May 28, 2000, whereas the direct officers joined the service after qualifying CSS examination on February 18, 2000.

The sources said the situation arose when ED created confusion regarding the seniority procedure and combined the seniority list of the regular, inductees and ex-cadre officers and crafted a single file.

According to the Civil Service Rules 1990, officers selected through CSS examination in the OMG are to be treated as members of Occupational Group and their seniority is to be maintained separately as in the case of other 12 occupational groups selected through the competitive examination.

In this case, seniority of the regular, ex-cadre and inductee officers has been placed in a unified list that is in violation of the rules. From the same list specified quota for promotion has been reserved for ex-cadre and inductee officers.

According to the rules, 67 per cent quota has been reserved for CSS qualified officers for promotion to higher cadres. It is for first time that the ED board has taken on board the promotion of 100 per cent ex-cadre officers.

According to the sources, a group of regular officers met with the secretary Establishment on Tuesday to register its protest against the violation of rules of seniority.

It is a reality that OMG has been revived after a decade. Lots of changes has been carried out and can be observed in those times and present era. It has become very necessary to train OMG officers with latest techniqurs of management, Human resource administration, policy making and financial management. we, the OMG officers, should make earnest efforts to communicate our suggestions to establishment division and Prime Minister or other concerned authorities in this regard. If we look at other groups, they have introduced positive and modern changes to attract more competent candidates. for example, MBA degrees are offered in ITG, CEG and C&T. we should also suggest the concerned authorities to offer OMG officers MBA in HRM. we should also suggest to include foreign tours in our STP. If you have other suggestions, please discuss these on this forum and then send these to establishment divison.

secondly, be aware that OMG is one of the most significant groups in CSS. It has the fastest growth oriented group. It is the nerve cell of every govt. so dont loose heart by listening to those people who discourage you by undermining OMG.

I completely agree with starz on the point that OMG officers must be equipped with latest techniques of management...And i think we should launch a campaign by writing letters to the editors of various newspapers initially and later when we join our service, then we should make recommendations to our highups and Prime Minister...
