Very important for all . No rumors please
A.A. Dear Friends,
Please dont quarrel on this rumor which a single person started. Be smart and dont waste your time in fighting over this topic. I think we all must need to spent this time in our preparations for upcoming exams instead of doing research and checking the accuracy of this RUMOR about new rules. If FPSC is going to change the qualification criteria, they surely will give age relaxation. Now please dont spend your precious time in fighting over rumors spread by some ASTROLOGERS and AMIL BABA's. Work hard and you ll get success. InshaALLAH. Amen. |

CSS exams: a suggestion
Wednesday, 21 Jul, 2010 THE well-being of a nation depends on how well it channelises the potential of its youth. Unfortunately, the case in our society is different; CSS examination forms a case in point. I have a few suggestions to make. The exam should be made uniform. There should be an initial screening of candidates patterned on the GRE exam. Optional subjects should be done away with while compulsory subjects, like the general paper on linguistics, history, geography and philosophy, should be increased. There is a lot of injustice in the marking of optional papers. Where merit rules, the role of luck is minimised. Candidates who pass the exam but remain unassigned must be given a chance. The age limit should be relaxed to at least 32 years while the attempt restriction needs to be relaxed to five times so that we may have better and committed officers. All major exams of the world like USMLE, etc., place no restrictions, especially if a person has scored well in certain subjects one year but could not do well in those same subjects the next year. All successful but unallocated candidates must be given another chance so that some distinction could be made between passing and failing ones. Yup for sure age and educational requirements does not matter at a great stance. However, increment in the number of compulsory subjects will be a serious concern.

Age relaxation for CSS exam
Wednesday, 28 Jul, 2010 THIS is with reference to the letter ‘Age relaxation for CSS exam: a suggestion’ by G.H. Jibrran Mangnejo (July 25). I utterly disagree with the suggestion that the relaxation of age limit to 32 years will not hold water. According to the writer he has carried out a survey regarding the age of successful candidates in the CSS between the 1980s and 2007 and found that most of the candidates achieved success in CSS between the ages of 22 to 27. But he has not discussed the educational background, conducive environment for study, nor problems like the need to earn for one’s family and financial stability for those qualified students in the CSS exam. Other social issues like poverty, unemployment, injustice, feudalism and family feuds have created a stumbling block delaying a lot of students from appearing in the exam. He has further discussed that CSS candidates are required to study six to eight hours on a daily basis and that an ordinary candidate can make his dream come true. Looking at the current massive load-shedding, need to earn to manage one’s family and other problems discussed above, one cannot devote six to eight hours on a daily basis for study. However, the CSS exam is a competition at the national level, in which all Pakistanis, whether they belong to poor, middle or elite class, can apply. But their educational and income facilities vary a lot. The age-limit barrier in the exam has discouraged a lot of candidates. Age relaxation would encourage students to pursue their career in the civil service of Pakistan. The chairman, FPSC and the relevant Senate committee are requested to look into this matter. Letter to the Editor (DAWN), 30th July, 2010.
PASSING a test on one occasion does not give a licence to any individual to do as he or she wishes for the rest of his/her life. The reference is to the that are conducted in Pakistan.
It is mind-boggling that on one occasion a candidate scores 150/200 in a certain subject and the next year does not score even 100/200 in the same discipline despite being better prepared. The element of luck has to be taken out because it is depriving many worthy people of their due position. There have been instances where many candidates who had failed the provincial management test in 2009 qualified for the the same year by getting better marks in their optional subjects. It is an unfortunate situation. The FPSC needs to look into it. There should be a GRE-based assessment exam prior to issuing role numbers to the candidates so that justice is done as there are chances of gross mistakes being committed when a teacher checks thousands of papers at a time. The age limit should be relaxed so that PhDs and other learned people are inducted to serve in specialised fields like the Foreign Service, the accounts and commerce departments. And most importantly the restrictions on the number of attempts must be done away with. Any candidate who is between 22 and 35-years-old and is taking a GRE-like exam conducted by international agencies should be allowed to appear for the CSS examination. DR ATIF SALYANA Lahore |

luck factor is always there and you cannot deal away with it..yeah we can reduce it...but then the paper is claimed to be out of syllabus or beyond expectations which will be protested upon again because a majority of students of our educational system are used to the "Rattafication" Methodology where out of a 100 questions, 10 or odd will safely see you through your matriculation, fsc, bachelors or even masters!!!
