Wa alaikum asslam,

Umar brother I could not secure allocation in PMS, my Merit no was 212. My compulsory and Viva went very fine but my optional combination turned out to be very dreadful, people with Mass comm, Social Work and particularly Punjabi outperformed me, I got good marks in my subjects Pol Sci, Philosophy and Business Admin but comparing Political science with Punjabi, the people with Punjabi had the edge as former got 130 or so at most and latter got 145 at average. However, perhaps I was not destined to become a PMS officer this time.
Congratulations on your success and best of luck for future endeavors.

Can you elaborate your preparation strategy, score, books consulted for Business administration please? Would you carry on this subject for next attempt of PMS?

Well preparation strategy is too general and comprehensive a question to be answered, however, you can add me on skype or we can arrange a meeting at Farooq and Tayyab's flat. I would never opt for Business Admin again, nor will I suggest to someone else to go with Business Admin, even you are an MBA or BBA, this subject is a real nightmare in PMS.

I had studied S.P Robbins' Management, Principles of Marketing by Philip Kotler and Fundamentals of Financial Management by Van Horne. I have no intention to opt it again.

What was your preparation strategy for Philosophy? Can you please recommend some good books which are useful for the subject in CSS?

Thank you for your kind words brother. I wish you best of luck for your next attempt. I got allocated in the Audit group in my previous attempt. I am looking forward to appearing again in the PMS exam. Any ideas when the PPSC is going to advertise the PMS exam?

Paper I Logic:

Introduction to Logic by Irving. M. Copi (This is the prescribed book)
A concise Introduction to Logic by Patrick Hurley (This one can be used as a supplement)

Paper II (Philosophies)

History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russel
A Short History of Western Philosophy by Roger Scrutton
History of Muslim Philosophy by M.M Sharif

My strategy was simple, I read the original books and skimmed the essence of the material on power point in bullet form, it abetted me revise the material in less time as well as helped me review only essential things. Philosophy is my barbie doll and I just love it.

Brother there are very strong reports of ad in next month Insha Allah, papers would be held in June and July, even if ads gets late, there are still 8 to 9 months in June/July, we are concerned with when the exam is held not when the ad comes, it may come later but hopefully PMS is expected soon. Stay prepared and best of luck.

PMS ad is not expected soon as many vacancies of PMS-2011 are lying vacant & merit lists have to revise for twice at least.

There is a rule of civil services & list revision:

List of any competitive / PCS Exam can be revised in 1 year time or till the ad of coming exam, which comes earlier.

Till date 8 persons have not joined & list is going to revise. There are 6 more persons who will most probably leave once training of CSS start as they are allocated in CSS. So list will be revised once again & ad will not be given of coming exam for revision of lists.

This is why many non-allocated & even allocated candidates have approached S&GAD and other high officials. They want CSS allocated persons to clear their stance of joining either group so that list is revised. Non-allocated persons have right to pursue & got the list revised.

Due to whole this scenario ad of coming PMS Exam is not expected in near future.
