Request to Dream and aishalam: i need your suggestions about gender studies, as you both have opted it. I know it is irrelevant to post here, but my query will go unnoticed if i post somewhere else.
Though the syllabus of gender studies is short, but as per the past papers, the subject seems complex to me. How you find it? I rarely follow scoring trend, but interest. I opted it, read a few books, but failed to generate interest in GS. Should i go for it or not? Your kind suggestions are awaited. Thanks.

Q#1 PARAGRAPH
GROWING UP IN POVERTY

Poverty is not natural it is man made it can be eradicated and can be removed.
[Nelson Mandela]
Islam stressed the need that everyone should be awarded according to his struggle.

It is often said that if you born poor it is not your fault but if you die poor it is your fault.
In history we can see numerous people who raise to present status only by hard work.
Poverty is a condition when a person is unable to get basic necessities of life i.e food, shelter and clothing. In a society spending their life below poverty line education is luxury for them not a basic need.
While In Islam education is mandatory. IN Space only progress can be made and poverty can be eradicated by education. In education it should be right kind of education.
Recent survey shows that in Pakistan 25% of population is below poverty line. If there is any tolerance scale, perhaps the people of Pakistan scored highest in surviving in most worst situation. The factors behind poverty are numerous but in Pakistan especially unavailability of resources are blamed for it. The only Rekiodik project contains huge reserve of copper, silver and gold its worth will be 10 times of all loans and aids received by Pakistan in last 73 years.
In Pakistan youth comprised of major chunk of the population but 12% of this youth is unemployed. Government is not willing to explore its natural resources while youth is not willing for manual work, the resultant phenomenon arise is unemployment which leads towards poverty. When youth is not willing for manual work and in their hand PHD degree, they grew up with poverty.

(A HANDFUL OF JAPENESE LIVES BY THEIR FINGER TIPS)

The huge chunk of youth which can be proved an asset for Pakistan compelled to live below poverty line. They can contribute sufficiently in the National exchequer and also willing to contributes is still a burden on the economy of Pakistan.
In this scenario the policies of Pakistan should be revised thoroughly.

I'd rather stick with my writing style than conform to a tone dictated as the only "right" academic way of writing. If they had pointed out a structural error I would be glad to take it on board but c'est la vie.

As to your comments, I greatly appreciate them and fully see the point you are trying to make. I included the portion on Literature not being sustenance to acknowledge the counter-argument often made against this philosophical topic- that literature though essential isn't the most important thing. I wanted to acknowledge that basic necessities come first BUT you would exist without having really lived if you disregard the impact of Literature. That's why I used words like "thrive" and making our life here "worthwhile" in the second half of the TS. I agree that putting the basic necessities first puts an undue spotlight on them so the TS needs restructuring. I'm grateful for your comment and I'll definitely post my thoughts on your outline and introduction soon.
True! Its been a norm now that some academies try to regulate "one size fit for all" method. But, one must always try to keep up with their own style considering not violating basic tenets.

1.Narendra Modi and his Hindutva acolytes are a case in point, while even in our own country regressive forces lurk in the shadows, sabotaging efforts to create a more egalitarian society.
2. Donald Trump’s journey to power has been propelled partly by white nationalists, while in Europe, the ideological children of fascism today sit in parliaments in Germany, Austria and Hungary.
Well, for besides let me make myself clear.
Plus: i agree to your other views.
Hafeez, you may already know "while" carries two meanings, "at the same time" and other like "whereas"(when contradicts). When it is used in the latter sense it takes "comma" before it. The above two sentences mentioned by you represent second use of While. You can pretty much see the idea clear in above sentences.
But, when it is used in former sense it does not need comma. And in my case it has been used as in first case. So ii assumed one can used "full stop" to avoid longer sentences.

And for GS, if you have interest in it you can go for it. Or if you want you can shuffle the subject. But, to me GS is good one and also short. Though its terms and concepts require deep understanding to get oneself clear about the subject and also it might causes agony or take longer than expected, as some of candid complain about hard time finding relevant material.

On the lighter note, interest does matter but if you're willing you can maintain the "interest" side. Think if you really want to go for it. If you would ask me i think you can make it out with GS. Just understand basics of the subject and rest will be easy. You got to make a decision and stand with it no matter what.

That was kind of you to say, thank you! A CSS mentor on Facebook. I stumbled across the contest by accident and with about a day and a half till the deadline I thought it would be a fun way to exercise the "little grey cells" as Hercule Poirot would say.

As to your question regarding Gender Studies, it's a fairly easy subject to tackle. I agree it starts getting bland halfway through mainly because the CSS recommended syllabus doesn't really cover much of the theoretical aspects behind the subject at all. It just glossed over them which is a real shame since the theories and the theorists themselves are fascinating. I mainly opted for it under the mistaken assumption that Sociology would overlap with it. It should but the topics listed don't really help for the other so I had to change my game plan. Anyway I'd say go for it. It's useful generally as well since gender related topics crop up in the essay paper but at the end of the day it's up to you.

@Shaista I have added some comments and suggestions to the Idioms portion below. Hope it helps.

Q#2 IDIOMS
1- Dead wood ; Manager is trying to reducing (reduce) the expenditure of the company by removing all the dead wood.
2- Lump in your throat; The problem of shortage of petroleum products and rising prices of goods is throat in the lump (Lump in the throat) in (of) the public. (The sentence is technically correct but this phrase is rarely used like this. It's more of a personal expression to be used in situations when one would be "choked up" due to sadness or anxiety or overwhelmed by gratitude. Sort of reminiscent of the actual feeling one gets when they are about to cry but is holding the tears back. The sentence you have used would have phrases like "bitter taste in the mouth" or "hard pill to swallow" fit better. If I was to reword this I'd use it as, "I had to fight back tears and the rising lump in my throat as the media coverage for another price hike was blarring from the television set.")
3- Upset the apple cart; Working in the night and sleeping in the day likely to upsetting the apple cart. (I don't think this sentence is correct. Upsetting an apple cart simply means to disrupt plans or to cause trouble. A simple sentence would be "Despite out best planning, bad weather at the last moment upset the apple cart." Or maybe "The work was going smoothly until the incompetence of one member upset the apple cart.")
4- Take with pinch of salt; The news of suspicious persons should be taken with (a) pinch of salt.
5- A square peg in the round hole; Appointing an engineer in (to) the post of teacher is like (trying to fit) a square peg in the round hole.

• Education emergency
• Revision of curriculum
• Effective implementations of policies
• Nationalization of schools
• One education system
• 4% of GDP specified for education
• Reforms in HEC
Conclusion

The literacy rate of education of any country is directly proportional to its economic prosperity. The initiative taken by Punjab in the field of education are very important to rise the present literacy rate, it having multi dimension. E.g
1. Attract more students to educational institutions.
2. Introduction of modern technology in the field of education.
3. Appointment of highly qualified teachers on merit.
4. Education budget is still 2.2% of GDP.
5. Political interferences is still present here.
Economic prosperity means that each and every individual of the society having access to health, education and other modern ways of living.
“Economic prosperity keeps the individuals free from the worries of bread and butter and individuals able to focus on other creative activities. They are able to focus on new inventions in the field of science and technology.”
“Poverty is not natural it is manmade. It can be eradicated”
(Nelson Mendala)
The term poverty is contradictory to economic prosperity. Poverty means individuals did not having access to its everyday needs. i.e food, shelter and clothing.
Literacy can be defined as, “the individuals can writes or read his/her name in Urdu and able to read newspaper.”
By following this definition of literacy Pakistan present literacy rate is 60%. These literate people did not know the use of modern technology and contributes nothing to the GDP of the country. Punjab government taken the worst initiative did not suit with our ground realities.
These initiatives of government Punjab in one line as, one initiative degrade the teacher and other emphasized on more degradation of teachers.”
• The first step taken by Punjab government was privatization of government owed educational institutions, i.e public private partnership.
Gives thousands of government schools to Punjab education foundations after that there is no improvement in the literacy rate of the country and also there is no improvement of quality of education.
The reason behind its failure is dishonesty of both government officials and private owners.
The vested interest of government of governments officials are commission making while the interest of PEF school owner is only profit making.
“Both partner tried to make more and more money only for their own needs not for the country. During this drill education as a whole and quality of education suffered specifically.”
PEF owners appoint teachers of matriculation level for this they paid minimum 2200 to 7500 maximum.
Their counterpart in government schools got salaries minimum35000 to maximum 1 lac 50,000. While highly qualified teachers are present in government sector. This is an Unrealistic competition between both sectors.
The second phenomenon of government of Punjab initiative is 1:40 ratio of students. In one teacher classroom there would be minimum of 40 student presence is essential and for maximum there is no fixed limit of students. The other phase is retentions of these students. In the process of enrollment and retentions the quality of education specifically and education as a whole suffered.
Then the step of curriculum is concern in 21ST century, it is based on Macualy’s model.
According to him a single shelf of English books are more worthy of whole literature of Arabic and Persian.”
They want to create a class in India which by caste, creed and color would be Indian but by nature and taste will be English. They act as a bridge between the English and natives.
This class is today our leader having no knowledge of needs of education and did not aware about gross root levels situations. Therefore their policies are unrealistic and failed miserably. They without having any idea about the aftermath of first policy make another policy which becomes again failed so miserably. The spiritual pious bound between the students and teachers becomes gone. Now teacher is only the paid servant of college or university.
English wants raw material of subcontinent for their own country where they can utilize them in their own industries and sold their goods in subcontinents.so therefore they did not induct practical education in the curriculum of subcontinent and did not establish industries here. They want a market where they can sell their goods in high prices.
In the field of curriculum Pakistan did not even enter into 20TH century when it will be entered into 21ST century.”
After seven decade of independence Pakistan is market of selling market of English made goods. The import of Pakistan is more than its exports. The curriculum of Pakistan is copy, paste and theoretical in nature. Our graduates only dreaming high and did not having technical education. The huge chunk of youth which should be assets now proved a burden on economy.
The monitoring steps of Punjab government comprised of
1. Assistant education officers
2. Monitoring and evaluation officers
The monitoring indicators of Punjab government are
1. LND
2. Cleanness of schools
3. Presence of students and teachers
The Assistant education officer duty includes mentoring and monitoring of schools of its circles its minimum 3 visits per month is mandatory.
The visit of MEA one per month required but not mandatory often skipped. Which conduct LND OF Three class and evaluate the other measure of government of Punjab and the presence of teachers, students and grade 4TH employees and online submission of report to education sectary.
The other initiatives of Punjab education department is education census. In HRM’s software 4 lac teachers data base is available to everywhere on the website of school education department.
The other initiative of government of Punjab is Urdu language education at primary level. In budget
Pakistan spent 2.2% of GDP in education.
Government of Punjab gave NSB installments minimum amount from 50,000 to maximum amount of about 2 lac depends upon the numbers of students used in maintenance of school building and for other purpose of stationery purchase and purchase of other necessary items required in school.
Kept in mind the importance of information technology and their use in modern education system, Punjab government distribute millions of laptops among the students of higher education. At primary level Punjab government also introduced tablets in schools.
Regardless of policies for the improvement of literacy rate, the literacy rate of the country is remains at low level. Here the role of teachers concern. According to United Nations report in the April 2020;
“Teachers in Pakistan are low paid.”
The founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam was aware of importance of education. So in 1948 first education conference he said;
“Education and right kind of education is necessary. You know under foreign rule for over a century. Sufficient attention will not be paid to the education of our peoples. We have to compete with the world which is moving very fast in this field of science and technology.”
Education and Islam;
“Seeking knowledge is mandatory for every Muslim men and women.”
“Seek knowledge from lap of the mother to graveyard.”
Napoleon had said
“Give me educated Mother, I will gave you the educated Nations.”
In the past there were spiritual and pious bound exists between the teachers and students. Teachers were considered spiritual parents but now teachers are only paid servants of school, college and university.
Teachers are builders of Nations, these teachers brought up the Alexander the Great, Aristotle, plato, and Socrates.
The role of teachers as a Nations builder cannot be underestimated.
According to Aristotle,
“If you want to destroy any Nation, destroy the education system of that Nations. The entire Nations will be destroyed ultimately.”
The prophet of Islam introduced himself as a teacher to the entire World.
“Islam did not draw line between the religious and Worldly education. In Islam mosques at the time of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) enjoyed the status of University where Worldly and religious taught side by side. In Islam, Quran stress about intellectual thinking, reasoning and analogy.
Quran PAK contains the words of ALLAH PAK, ALLAH PAK in Quran PAK emphasized that make research on the phenomenon of Nature. Islam the practical religion, its prophet as a teacher and Pakistan after Israel only state created on the name of religion, Pakistan only nuclear state in 57 Muslim countries is far away in the field off science and technology and even having low literacy rate than the countries of continents.
60% of literacy rate only producing unemployed degree holder and frustrated youth which becomes an easy prey of extremism and terrorism.
Both ruling elites and teachers are responsible for above mentioned failure. Ruling elite made the policies and appoint the teacher which is not on merit. Teachers are unfortunately not trained for imparting technical and practical education among the students and are unable to make a chunk of youth an asset.
If Pakistan want to utilized chunk of youth an assets, then the youth should be brought up in this manner that they having advance scientific and technical knowledge. In this manner they will be able to explore the available natural resources of the country.
As far as quantitative dimension of education is concern failed miserably in achieving higher literacy rate. In our education system both qualitative and quantitative dimension of the education is failed miserably in getting their proper goals of education.
In the first Cabinet of Pakistan the number of unelected Ministers and adviser were more in numbers than the elected members and advisers.
“The bureaucracy of Pakistan considered political leadership inferior and made decision without concerning their political boss.”
The political leadership of Pakistan drawn from feudal lords proves themselve more worthy of this incompetence. Bureaucracy is not wrong in doing so. But drawback is that our Bureaucracy is not aware about the situation of gross root level.
Lack of vision this phenomenon exist in both political and bureaucratic leadership. Both forget that with the existence of Pakistan both exist, but as a termite they start sucking the roots of Pakistan and drag the Pakistan where threat exists for the ideological and strategic boundary of Pakistan.
The education policies made by ruling elite failed miserably, but without studying the aftermath of one policy. They made another policy which lead to wastage of resources and time. The education policies did not bring any positive change in last seven decades.
Political interference are very deep rooted in the process of appointment of not only teachers but also in the higher officials. Those political appointee having loyalty towards their political boss. They did not make policies for the improvement of literacy rate of the country. They make policies only where political bosses rewarded economically. Concisely political interference in the phenomenon of appointment and transfer of teachers .The budget of education is 2.2% is not utilized properly for the upraising the level of education. This budget is wasted for the renovations of offices of higher authorities, in buying luxury vehicles, maintenance of school buildings and payments of bills and the remaining amount is distributed among all of them, according to their loyalty from top to bottom.
As far as in monitoring process, the role of higher official exists only by name. They did not contributing anything positive in the field of education. They are here only for making policies unaware from the ground realities.
Following ways will be helpful in raising the quality of scientific and technical education.
• The appointment of teachers should be 100% on merit. The person of higher caliber should be appointed as teacher. The teachers should be given good atmosphere and sufficient salaries. The can be able to produce the generations of Alexander the great and plato. Teachers should be paid respect than professions.

Pakistan is only nuclear state among Muslim ummah, backward in the field of science and technology.

Government of Pakistan should immediately implement education emergency with following aims;
1. Development of new curriculum should be designed according to the needs of 21ST century challenges.
2. Equal emphasize on religious and scientific education.
• In schools, colleges and universities scientific, technical and religious education is imparted in order to produce skillful youth.
• In religious schools curriculum designed with the need of scientific and technical education with religious education. In this way these students will be able to participate in the progress of the Country.
3. Revision of entire curriculum should be in educational emergency.
4. The educational policies should be made by concerning the educationists. First of all we required long term plan of ten years to uplift our present literacy rate. The policies once made should be flexible will not be interrupted by new governments during entire period of education emergency. Flexibility means where improvement required should be dealt accordingly. Once the policies made their implementation should be very effective for obtaining desired results.
5. In the decade of education emergency, the rat race of profit making in school systems should be added. The business community should start other business for profit making. But education is not a business.
6. During the phase of education emergency 4% of GDP is allocated in the budget and in 2025 it will be extend to 10% of GDP which is used in proper way, avoiding all extravagance expenditure of higher authorities. The higher official intend to make money should go to another group in the services of Pakistan. The competent and honest official should lead the education services of Pakistan.
7. Higher education commission makes by president Musharraf in September 2002 with Dr. Atta Ur Rehman becomes the first chairman of HEC established with the aim of improvement in higher education. More improvement of HEC is needed.
8. Education in Pakistan is costly, only 2.3% of the youth of age 19-23 having access to higher education. Even for upper middle class higher education is a white elephant.
9. University should have close contact with industries and produced graduate according to the need of industrial sector.

In my concluded remarks economic prosperity is directly proportional to level of literacy. With surplus economic growth you can invest more and more on their education and you will able to earn profits in the form of scientifically and technically skilled youth, this youth will be able to explore the minerals resources of the countries, by making new inventions and will leads our country in the category of developed nations.
Government of Punjab has taken a lot of measures for improving the standard of education for uplifting the literacy rate. Kept in mind the need of information technology PML[N] government distribute at least a million of free laptops among the students, also introduced tablets in school level and online performance evaluation app is introduced for the students of primary levels. App for the evaluation of teachers performance. The scale of primary school teacher was upgraded from 9 to 14.
Government of Punjab appointed highly qualified teachers included the veterinary Doctors, pharmacists, agriculturalists, lawyers, business graduate, Nurses and engineers in primary school level which evoke their dissatisfication level among these professional, which result in zero performance in the school education department.
Concisely all the measure taken by Punjab government are, “they decorated the outside of the cup but inner side is dirty, dirty and even more dirty.”
The policies of Punjab government did not bored results due to lack of sincerity and vision.

Regardless of policies for the improvement of literacy rate, the literacy rate of the country is remains at low level. Here the role of teachers concern. According to United Nations report in the April 2020;
“Teachers in Pakistan are low paid.”
The founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam was aware of importance of education. So in 1948 first education conference he said;
“Education and right kind of education is necessary. You know under foreign rule for over a century. Sufficient attention will not be paid to the education of our peoples. We have to compete with the world which is moving very fast in this field of science and technology.”
Education and Islam;

Government of Pakistan should immediately implement education emergency with following aims;

Dear Dream, thanks for your kind suggestions.I agree with your last sentence: make a decision and stick with it. I am thinking about it. Thanks.

Thanks sister for your suggestions. I will consider them. I have yet to make final decision about GS. Well, Thanks.
Plus: accept my greetings for your success in CE-19. My prayers are with you in times ahead. I hope you will continue to help us, and not leave the forum like other CSPs.
